Our first selection (No clean sheet - Sporting Gijon) was an obvious choice for me, i feel Real Sociedad have significantly improved since Sacristan took over from Moyes. They are looking competitive again and scoring goals. Their away results haven't been brilliant but their play has definitely improved and they have scored in 4 of their last 5 away games, only Barcelona stopped them from scoring. In contrast, Sporting Gijon's form has been pretty poor, losing 8 of their last 10 games in all competitions, and conceding 1 or more goals in each of those 10 games. I'm confident Real Sociedad will have enough attacking threat to be able to score at least 1 goal tonight.
I really struggled to choose our second selection today, was tempted with Bayern but remembered how bad they were last year after Christmas, i also considered Aberdeen but they seem susceptible to draws recently, so in the end i went with Nancy in the France Ligue 2. I chose Nancy mainly due to their home form and their opponents (Nimes) away form. Nancy have won their last 6 home games, scoring 14 goals and conceding only 3, where as Nimes are coming off 3 straight away defeats in all competitions. Overall Nancy are dominant at home in the league, with 7 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss, with 18 goals scored yet only 5 conceded, where as Nimes away record is a less than impressive 2 wins, 1 draw, 7 losses, with 10 goals scored and 17 conceded. On paper this should be a straight forward home win for Nancy tonight.
