On paper both of these selections should be comfortable wins, however this being the early stages of the Cup means there is often resting of key players, so i still advise you all to wait for the team line ups before deciding whether to bet.
Stoke are likely to rest a few key players when they go up against League 1 Doncaster today. Their form has been a bit hit and miss recently, with wins against Man Utd and Everton, followed by losses to West Brom and Liverpool, however they should have the quality to avoid defeat today. Doncaster will be looking to cause an upset today, they are in decent form, winning their last 2 matches, however Stoke are never easy to play against and i expect that to be the case today.
Championship side Ipswich come into their game against League 2 Portsmouth having already named their starting XI. Mick McCarthy has already stated he will be resting 7 key players, only time will tell if that ends up being true, however they should still have enough quality not to lose to League 2 Portsmouth. Ipswich are in a decent run of form, with 1 narrow loss to Derby in the last 6 games. Portsmouth are also doing well in the league, however with changes likely for their team also, Ipswich should be too strong at home.
