Our last £1000 Challenge ended cruelly on Tip 6 as a result of Mahrez missing a penalty against Bournemouth, we've had some rotten luck with penalty misses recently, hopefully this challenge won't be affected by any penalties.
Our first selection (Ath Bilbao) have really impressed me at home this season, they have only dropped points in narrow defeats against the big two (Barca and Real Madrid), and a draw against Malaga when an early red card hampered any chances of winning. They have deservedly beaten all other opponents at home in the league. Their opponents today are newly promoted Las Palmas who have been struggling on the road, with just 2 points from 8 away games. Although they don't score too many away from home (less than 1 per game), their main problem is defence, letting in 18 goals from 8 away games, and Ath Bilbao are bound to get some decent scoring opportunities in this match.
Our second selection (Rio Ave) have hit a run of poor form recently, however their home form is still impressive and no team in the Portugal league can match Rio Ave's opponents (Tondela) when it comes to poor form. Tondela have lost their last 6 games, and have lost 9 of their last 11 games, with the other 2 games being draws. At home, Rio Ave have 5 wins and 2 losses, one against Sporting and one where their performance deserved more. In contrast, Tondela away from home have 1 draw and 5 losses, with just 2 goals scored and 8 conceded, to say they are struggling is an understatement. With the draw covered, this should be a very safe selection.
