Our first selection (Everton) are playing some great football recently, and although they have ended up with far too many draws, a lot of them should have been wins on the balance of play. At home they are really knocking in the goals too, scoring 19 in 9 home games. Their opponents today (Stoke) are also producing some strong performances, however i think their lack of goal scoring ability away from home (6 goals in 9 away games) will make this fixture an unlikely away win. The far more likely result is that Everton who were able to rest Kone and Deulofeu on Boxing day will either snatch a victory or end up with a frustrating draw.
Our second selection (Arsenal) will be looking to bounce back from a surprise defeat to Southampton on Boxing day. Arsenal tend to have these slip ups throughout the season, however there is more backbone to the side now, and a home fixture against a Bournemouth side who refuse to change their style of play for anyone could be the perfect game for Arsenal to return to winning ways. Bournemouth concede a lot of goals away from home (19 in 9 games) and despite 2 recent away wins, beating 10 man West Brom and a Chelsea team who clearly didn't want their manager is not enough to convince me they can stop Arsenal at the Emirates.
