Our first selection (Bochum) were topping the table earlier in the season, until a recent slip in form. I remember thinking they will never maintain that position, however they are still a decent side who are difficult to beat at home, and have deserved more from a lot of their recent performances. Their opponents today (Paderborn) are 3rd from bottom, and have a rather poor away record, losing 6 of their 8 games, scoring only 6 goals and conceding 14 in the process. Bochum's poor results have to stop at some point as their performances are worthy of more, and this could well be the game where they regain some momentum to push back towards the top 5 or so teams.
Our second selection (Volendam) are in a tight battle for a promotion play-off position back into the top Netherlands league. They are defensively very strong at home, conceding only 6 goals in 8 home games, and they are also more than capable of scoring goals, scoring 32 in all 16 of their league matches this season. They also have a good recent head2head history against todays opponents (FC Oss), with 4 wins and 3 draws in their last 7 match-ups. FC Oss are in a decent spell of form, however they have on the whole struggled this season. They concede a lot of goals (29 in 16 games), don't score many (18 scored in 16 games), and i think Volendam at home should be strong enough not to lose to FC Oss today.
