Our first selection (Cardiff) are on a 4 game unbeaten run, and confidence will be high as they are coming off a great result against Middlesborough. They are a team who clearly plays better when they have home advantage, with the 5th best home record in the league, yet the 14th best away record in the league. Their opponents (Bristol City) are a bit up and down at the moment but just have the 1 away win in 6 games. I think Cardiff will be too strong at home to lose this one despite Bristol City's improvement in form recently.
Our second selection (Ath Bilbao v Sporting Gijon) should contain a few goals. Both teams average over 2.5 goals per game, and at home Ath Bilbao games average 3 goals, whilst away from home Sporting Gijon games average 2.8 goals. It was only a strong defensive display from Barca that prevented Ath Bilbao from scoring at home this season, they even managed a goal against R Madrid, and Sporting Gijon's games have contained over 1.5 goals in all but one away game so far this season, so this selection should stand a decent chance.
