Celebrations for Kane
Congratulations must go to Harry Kane who surpassed Jimmy Greaves goalscoring record for Tottenham, or did he? Kane got the winning and only goal as Tottenham beat Manchester City 1-0 at the weekend to give themselves a huge top four boost and with that Kane scored his 267th goal for the club. Greaves scored 266 so it's simple maths that Kane now holds the record however Tottenham have decided not to count the two goals that Greaves scored in the 1962 Charity Shield game. This would have put the record at 268 goals meaning Kane would now need another two goals. The problem here is that UEFA and the FA the governing boards of the game do count the Charity Shield game as an official match and this only became discontinued in 2014, so Greaves record really should still stand. It is only Tottenham that do not agree with it. However it is only a matter of time before Kane gets to 269 and beyond, and it wouldn't be a surprise if it is achieved this month. With that 'record breaking' goal Kane also reached a milestone- 200 Premier League goals. He now needs just 61 to beat Alan Shearer's record and given that Kane easily has five more years at the top surely he will not only do that but be able to get to the 300 barrier.
Haaland kept quiet
Talking of goals Erling Haaland was quiet against Tottenham but the Norwegian still has 25 already in the league and as long as he evades a big injury surely he will smash the Premier League record, he only needs 12 to do so and more likely he will end up with about 45 goals. This is a relief to Everton fans who for 95 years have had the legendary Dixie Dean to fall back on when it comes to the single season record when Dean scored 60 goals. Of course this is just Haaland's first season and he will have plenty of chances to have a go at the record. It is incredible to think though that Haaland could end up without any silverware this season, who expected Arsenal in 1st place at this stage of the season?
To win the Premier League: Arsenal 1.66, Manchester City 2.75, Manchester United 17.00, Newcastle 101.00, Tottenham 301.00
Man City charged
Keeping with Manchester City the club has been charged by the FA for allegedly breaking fair financial play rules. This follows on from UEFA's charge in 2019 which City won in the end and that was overturned with just a minimal fine. This new charge relates to a decade's worth of research. In fairness this is a breaking story and many outcomes are available but it doesn't shine a good light on the club at all. Every football fan will be following this story because it is a charge that could well start a ripple effect and other clubs may fall foul too around Europe.
Leeds sack Marsch
Leeds have sacked Jesse Marsch just 11 months after he took over from Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds have fallen to 17th place and only goal difference is keeping them from a bottom three place. His win rate of 29.7% just wasn't going to cut it but he leaves the club as someone who could well get a job back in the Premier League in the future, he did have some high points with an average squad and a team that kept getting unlucky with long term injuries.
Next Leeds manager: Carlos Corberan 2.25, Andoni Iraola 3.00, Marcelo Bielsa 10.00, Mauricio Pochettino 11.00, Ralph Hasenhuttl 13.00
