Wolves vs Newcastle: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 28th October 2023
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves' form has really improved over the last month and they have shot up to 12th place and have 11 points. The club have now gone their last 4 games unbeaten and that includes a 2-1 home win over Manchester City. They have also drawn against Luton and Aston Villa and last weekend picked up another 3 points away to Bournemouth. Wolves could move three places up with a win depending on other results but it would be a significant win and could move them as much as 10 points in front of the bottom three.

In midweek Newcastle who had thrashed PSG 4-1 at home in the Champions League found life more difficult against Borussia Dortmund and lost 1-0 at home. That would have been a blow to the club but form after a slow start has improved as the Magpies try to threaten the established clubs once more for a possible title run in and/or a top 4 place. Currently Eddie Howe’s side are in 6th place and have 16 points and are four points behind fourth and seven behind Tottenham, the league leaders. Form has seen the club win 13 points from 15 and last weekend they thrashed Crystal Palace 4-0. Their last away game finished in an entertaining 2-2 draw with West Ham. Overall away form has not been convincing and based just on away games Newcastle would be in 13th place and they have earned 4 points from a possible twelve. The good news is that they have managed to go their last two away games unbeaten so we could be witnessing the players gelling together for this season. The Champions League must also be taking its toll for a club so inexperienced in the competition too.

Team News:

Newcastle: Elliot Anderson has a back injury and is reported to be out for a month, Harvey Barnes won’t return until the end of the year at the earliest because of a toe injury. Sven Botman misses out again with a knee injury, Alexander Isak is a major doubt to return with a groin injury, Alex Murphy is 50/50 to return and could be assessed after suffering a knock.

Wolves vs Newcastle Head to Head:

Last season in this fixture the game finished in a 1-1 draw.

It’s been four games since Wolves beat Newcastle.

Seven of the last 8 meetings have seen both teams to score.

Five of the last 8 meetings have finished with the correct score of 1-1.

Wolves vs Newcastle Prediction:

Newcastle will start as the favourites but they could be in for a surprise given that Wolves form has really picked up. Wolves' understanding has to be to protect their results at home, that is how teams survive in the league and grow a solid base. If you can beat Manchester City at home then that is going to give you all the confidence you need and coupled with the fact that Newcastle’s away form has been questionable the value in this fixture could be to back the home team on the handicap.

We will also back both teams to score and this has a fantastic success rate and we could see this game boil over if Wolves take the lead and are able to frustrate the Magpies so get on that market too.

Wolves vs Newcastle Betting Tips:
