Match Preview:
Wolves have got off to a poor start and come into this weekend in 18th place with 1 point from a possible 9. They have also scored just one goal, so they will be happy to be at home again but their opponent is not an easy one.
Last weekend Wolves were expected to lose against Tottenham away from home and they did but they put in a very strong performance and many observers felt that even the score line of 1-0 was harsh. While Bruno Lage’s team have had a terrible start there is encouragement within the ranks that things will get better soon just by the way the club are playing. The 0-0 at home to Fulham will still hurt though as they are the types of games the club need to be winning especially at home. There was some joy for the club in midweek as they beat Preston 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle were involved in a thrilling match with the champions Manchester City last weekend that ended up finishing 3-3. It was a good point for the Magpies granted but possibly tinged with disappointment as they were leading the game 3-1. Still manager Eddie Howe will be happy and the team look confident, their performance against City was at times electrifying and clearly the club have huge ambitions and are heading in the right direction.
The Magpies are in 6th place with 5 points and are four points behind Arsenal. They have drawn their last two games, but those were tough ones and included a 0-0 result away to in form Brighton. In midweek Howe’s side navigated a victory against Tranmere away from home winning 2-1 in the Carabao Cup.

Wolves vs Newcastle Head to Head:
Wolves beat Newcastle in this fixture last season 2-1.
From the last 9 meetings Newcastle have only beaten Wolves once.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.
It’s been five years since Newcastle beat Wolves away from home.
Wolves vs Newcastle Prediction:
We witnessed last season under manager Bruno Lage that Wolves took time to get going and one has to wonder if this season will be the same? Wolves find themselves in a dangerous position even though they haven’t played badly and the one worry will be if the players start questioning themselves. They are up against a very good Newcastle side who just seem to be getting stronger and stronger - quite literally. The Magpies have just signed striker Alexander Isak from Real Sociedad for £63m this is on top of having the likes of Bruno Guimarares and Allan Saint-Maximin and these players have looked brilliant so far this season.
It is true that Wolves have a decent record over Newcastle in the last decade although the majority of results have ended in draws. We expect the same type of game for Newcastle as the Manchester City one they faced last weekend. Not so much in terms of the quality that City can bring to the table but the fact that this could be end to end and with goals and possibly incident. At this moment in time though it is hard to see past Eddie Howe’s side. They must start to become consistent away from home though and this could be the season where we see that.
