Match Preview:
What a win it was for Wolves on Boxing Day as they went to Everton and won 2-1. They had been trailing early in the game and then had pulled a goal back and to be fair it looked as if the game which was a fairly dull one was going to finish 1-1. However a quick counter attack in the final minute sealed Everton’s fate and Wolves had won their first league game under new manager Julen Lopetegui. It was 3 points but meant so much more with the way it was won.
The victory over Everton was only the clubs 3rd win of the season and moved them from the bottom of the league up to 18th with 13 points. The dangers are still all too real but that would have given the club a huge boost.
Manchester United are on a good run and it seems as if the players are clicking for the club and manager Erik ten Hag’s hard work behind the scenes is paying off. For the first time in a long time you get the sense that the players are working for the manager and that they are simply enjoying their football and they will come into this game feeling great about themselves. A few days ago United eased past Nottingham Forest beating them 3-0 at home and they will start as favourites to win this game.
Form is good with 3 wins from their last four games and away from home they have won 50% of their games. Victory here could see Ten Hag’s side go past Tottenham if they lose or even draw.
Team News:
Wolves: Jonny could return after his groin injury and will be assessed, it is the same situation for Boubacar Traore. Pedro Neto remains sidelined due to an ankle injury.
Manchester United: Diego Dalot will be assessed after his hamstring injury, Lisandro Martinez remains a doubt as he came back from the World Cup late. Jadon Sancho is expected to miss the next 10 days due to fitness issues.
Wolves vs Man Utd Head to Head:
Manchester United won this fixture last season 1-0.
In the last 8 games Wolves has just one victory although that came in the last game as they won at Old Trafford 1-0.
There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Wolves vs Man Utd Prediction:
Manchester United have a great recent record over Wolves and we expect that to continue over the weekend. This is a fixture that usually doesn’t produce many goals but we can see a few here. It’s true that with a new manager in tow Wolves have something different about them and at home they will have their chances but Lopetegui on the evidence of their last few games has quite a job on his hands. Wolves can be physical but are lacking real quality to remain in the Premier League and coming up against such a quick United side who have plenty of goals in them this could be a long afternoon.
Marcus Rashford is on form and he came through for us last weekend, he’s scoring goals, creating them and making the right decisions and we will follow him for now.
Wolves vs Man Utd Betting Tips:
Manchester United to beat Wolves at 1.91
Anytime goalscorer: Marcus Rashford at 2.75
Over 2.5 goals at 1.91
