Wolves vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 2nd April 2019
Kick off at 7.45pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

A genuinely intriguing match will take place on Tuesday night when Wolves will welcome Manchester United.

It was Wolves of course who knocked United out of the FA Cup just a few weeks ago and only 3 teams have been able to beat Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s team since he took over in December; PSG, Arsenal, and Wolves.

Nino Espirto Santo’s team are currently the best of the rest in 7th place but they have pressure from Everton, Leicester and Watford to keep that place and at the weekend had a disappointing result losing 2-0 against lowly Burnley.

Indeed this hasn’t been a good period for the usually solid set up at Wolves and they have won just 1 game in their past five. One wonders if their looming FA Cup semi final match against Watford is starting to set into the players mind-set. At home they have won 7 games and are unbeaten in their last 4, winning 3 of those. Whilst home form is good it should also be noted that none of their recent matches have come against top 6 sides.

Manchester United beat Watford 2-1 on Saturday, which gave them a massive boost in their hopes of finishing in the top 4 for next season. It was an important victory because it came at a time when the club had lost 2 games in a row in all competitions.

United lost their last away game but that was against Arsenal, otherwise it is interesting to note that United have the 4th best away record in the league where they have won 9 of their 16 games including winning 4 of their last 5.

Team News:

Wolves: The club have no new injuries coming into this game

Manchester United: Eric Bailly has a head injury from international duty. There is no new update on the player but he looks set to miss this game. Darmain Matteo is out for a couple of weeks due to a knock. Valencia also has a knock and remains at 50/50 for this game

Wolves vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Earlier this season in the reverse fixture the teams drew 1-1.

If we look at league games only Wolves have no wins over United since 2011.

6 of the last 7 meetings has seen both teams to score.

Wolves vs Man Utd Prediction:

This is set to be a really enjoyable match as both coaches will let their teams play and we should see some attacking football for both teams. This is why we may disregard the match winner and instead pick our main bet to see both teams to score. History says it is very likely to happen, with a 90% chance of doing so but this game looks set up for it too. Arguably United do need the win more than Wolves to keep their top 4 challenge going but also the ‘R’ word will be on their minds - revenge for the FA Cup exit. We will also back Marcus Rashford to score. He did so at the weekend, which would have given him a timely boost, and he scored in that FA Cup defeat also.

Wolves vs Man Utd Betting Tips:

Both teams to score at 1.91

Anytime goalscorer: Marcus Rashford at 3.00
