England Premier League
Friday 27th December 2019
Kick off at 7.45pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
Manchester City could be 14 points behind Liverpool come Thursday or could reduce the gap with a win here too 8 points if Liverpool were to lose their first game of the season, so this period is so important for all clubs involved.
Anyone that doubted City’s passion and hunger in the Premier League would have been wrong given the clubs recent displays which has seen them beat Arsenal 3-0 with a fantastic display and then score another three goals in an excellent 3-1 win over Leicester which inflicted only Leicester’s 3rd defeat of the season.
With this form City have moved to within a point of Leicester and could go 2nd if Leicester lose or draw against Liverpool. City have won 6 of their 9 games away from home and have the 2nd best record in the league. They have scored 9 goals in their last 3 away matches and are scoring almost 3 goals per game.
Wolves are in 6th place with 27 points and they beat City earlier in the season away from home. The club could secure 5th place if Sheffield United fail to win. The club beat Norwich 2-1 in their last game. At home it has been a mixed bag for Wolves with just 2 losses but only 3 wins and they are clearly drawing too many games, however they are a team that Man City seem to struggle to get the better of, so this wont be an easy game for City. Wolves did lose their last game at Molineux against Tottenham though the match was heading for a 1-1 finish and Wolves were the better side on the balance of play.
Team News:
Wolves: The club have some long term injuries but no new ones coming into this game
Manchester City: David Silva looks set to miss this game with an ongoing knock. Ilkay Gundogan also has a knock but it is expected to be minor and he could play. John Stones has a hamstring injury
Wolves vs Man City Head to Head:
Last season this fixture ended 1-1.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
In 3 of the last 4 games both teams have not scored.
Wolves vs Man City Prediction:
There has been a pattern where if City lost an unexpected game they would beat the team away from home. It happened with Crystal Palace last season but playing Wolves is no easy task, especially at Molineux. Wolves are a very good side but they haven’t been convincing enough this season with consistency letting them down, although recent for is strong. City are playing fantastic football in this period and they have to keep up the chase, the objective is to keep on winning games and give Liverpool a run for their money even if the title does seem over. Based on their last two matches City should not have a problem to win this one but Wolves are the kind of team that will make Man City nervous, therefore we will take Wolves on the handicap.
