Match Preview:

And then there were five…. that’s right Wolves has emerged as the fifth team chasing the final Champions League spot and what neutrals would not want to see it happen? In his debut season Bruno Lage has done a terrific job after a slow start and Wolves have a genuine chance if they can keep their consistency to finish in 4th place.

Currently the club are in 7th and have passed Tottenham going into this weekend. They are six points behind 4th placed Manchester United but have 2 games in hand over Ralf Rangnick’s team. Wolves are not being considered as one of the favourites to take 4th and it would be a huge surprise but they can’t be counted out just yet.

Form wise the club have been superb with 4 wins from their last five, the only blight being a 1-0 loss at home to Arsenal. However Wolves followed up that defeat by stunning Tottenham and going their and winning 2-0. Wolves have done so well because one could have expected after they lost to Arsenal they would have gone to Tottenham who have been solid at home under Antonio Conte and lost that one too. Suddenly a good run ends, spirit fades and you’re in mid table. So to come back like they have shows how well the club are being managed and they should be seen as favourites to win this game.

Leicester are in 11th place and 10 points behind Wolves- how times have changed compared to last season! It’s been 4 games without a win for the Foxes and that is obviously very worrying for them. The clubs last victory came back in December. Leicester’s last game ended 2-2 against West Ham and the good news is that they have 2 games in hand over the next two teams above them, but of course you have to win those to make them count.

On the road the Foxes have won just 9 points from their overall haul of 27 and that equates to winning just 20% of their games. The bad news continues as Brendan Rodgers side have lost their last 3 away games in a row.

Team News:

Wolves: The club have no injuries ahead of this game.

Leicester: James Maddison is ill and remains a doubt for this game. Caglar Soyuncu has a knee injury but it is unsure how serious it is and he could be assessed for this game. Jamie Vardy is about 10 days from a return with his hamstring injury. Justin James and Wesley Fofana miss out yet again through long term injury but could return within the week. Jonny Evans is about a month away from returning with his hamstring injury.

Wolves vs Leicester Head to Head:

Last season this fixture finished 0-0.

It’s been six games since Wolves beat Leicester at home.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Leicester won 1-0.

The last 5 meetings have all seen under 1.5 goals.

Wolves vs Leicester Prediction:

This is another big test for Wolves and Leicester are a potential banana skin team but one would believe that the club can keep to their game plan and philosphy that beating a Leicester side who are not on form and have had some key injuries at home should be achievable. It is one of those games that will certainly test Wolves mental strength and it has already been tested last weekend against Tottenham and got through that with flying colours.

Leicester have nothing to lose but at the same time one feels that perhaps they are going through the motions some what in the Premier League. The club did receive a big boost in midweek as they beat Randers 4-1 in the knock out stage 1st leg of their Europa League match, but playing Wolves away is another proposition altogether and we don’t see them walking away as winners at the weekend.
