Wolves vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League

Match Preview:

Wolves ended a poor run of games by defeating Arsenal 2-1 at home in midweek. Although many observers will point to the fact that they were helped on their way by the controversial sending off of David Luiz and the Gunners ended the game with 9 men. Still a win is a win and it would have given the players a boost and an injection of confidence coming into this match and that’s just what they needed.

Wolves are 12 points clear of the bottom three and because of their positive start to the campaign that’s got the club in good stead and they will be fine this season even if they had collapsed in form. The problem the club has is that they look too far off from a European place now so it is all about motivation. Though they had the added men on the pitch advantage against Arsenal the club still showed a lot of spirit to come back in the game and that is something that manager Nuno Esprito Santo will be looking for.

Leicester look amazing one week and pretty average the next, it is that inconsistency which has kept them from 1st place, because even though they are having a great season it really could have been better. In midweek the Foxes did well to go to Fulham and win 2-0 with some players out injured and Fulham fighting for survival. It also ended two games without a win and keeps Brendan Rodgers side in 3rd place, 2 points ahead of Liverpool.

If Manchester United have lost on Saturday Leicester could go 2nd with victory. Currently the Foxes are 5 points behind league leaders Manchester City and City has a game in hand.

Team News:

Wolves: Romain Saiss is still out with a knock. Marcal, Raul Jimenez, Jonny and Rayan Ait Nouri are all longer term, though Ait Nouri will be hopeful of a quicker return.

Leicester: Wesley Fofana is out with his hamstring for an estimated time of a month. Timothy Castagne won’t be back for a couple of weeks with the same problem. Ndidi has recovered but needs some fitness and will be assessed.

Wolves vs Leicester Head to Head:

Last season this game finished 0-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture this game ended 0-0.

From the last 5 games played at Wolves, Leicester have only won once and that was in the Cup match on penalties.

Wolves vs Leicester Prediction:

Of all the games this weekend this is the hardest to call and should be a close affair. Leicester have a poor record here though they are the type of team that do not look back and will go for the three points.

Wolves have been poorer this season but the Arsenal win would have put a spring in their step. We believe there could be some caution from the away team in the earlier stages of the game as they try to work out opponents who in the past they have struggled against. If we look at the recent results we are talking 1 goal gap wins, and this match does look set up for that.

We must remember that there is much more pressure on Leicester to win this game. Wolves are in that moment of the season where they have done enough to stay up but not enough for Europe but Leicester have their dream of a Champions League place.

Despite the bookies not thinking this game will contain many goals, we think it could contain a few, and that will be our betting focus as the value looks very good.
