England Premier League
Sunday 12th July 2020
Kick off at 12noon BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
Wolves have had another solid season but they have lost two consecutive games, which has more or less finished their Champions League dreams for next season. The club have slipped 7 points behind 4th place and are now in 7th. They are facing pressure from a host of teams even for a Europa League finish and after such sterling work this season it could all come undone at the final hurdle.
Losing to Arsenal was seen as a blow as they were at home against a team who they had got the better of in recent games. But then Nino Espirito Santos’ team lost against Sheffield United, another direct rival for a European place. It was a killer blow too as the goal happened in the final minutes of injury time.
The Arsenal defeat was only their 4th at home this season and they will try not to lose 3 games in a row when Everton come to town.
Carlo Ancelotti tried to stay upbeat after Everton were beaten by Tottenham. The Italian still feels that a European position is on the cards. But Everton have slipped 7 points behind a place for Europe. The club have won 8 points from their last 15 and whilst that isn’t terrible it probably isn’t good enough to be consistent for Europe.
Everton are in 11th place and a win can’t move them any higher but could put pressure on the teams directly above them like Tottenham and Burnley. Away from home the Toffees have lost 10 games this season and lost 3 of their last four.
Team News:
Wolves: Speedster Adama Traore is a doubt for this game.
Everton: Andre Gomes and Mason Holgate are doubtful, whilst Fabian Delph remains out of contention through injury.
Wolves vs Everton Head to Head:
In the reverse fixture Everton won 3-2.
Last season this fixture ended 2-2.
The last 3 meetings have all seen over 3.5 goals.
In the 9 recent meetings between the clubs Wolves have just 1 win, there have been 5 draws and 3 Everton victories.
Wolves Raul Jimenez has scored in each of the clubs last 3 meetings against Everton.
Wolves vs Everton Prediction:
Everton have really struggled on the road this season and it is rare that Wolves lose 3 games in a row. But Ancelotti’s team need to go for this otherwise Europe could well end here. We expect to see an open game and in the past goals have been a fixture between the sides. One of our choices should goals, the value is excellent on a "goal line (Over 2)".
One could say that over the past couple of seasons Wolves have been the better team looking at league standings but they struggle to beat Everton. Perhaps Everton are lacking a little confidence and that is why it is hard to go for them to win this game. Though Wolves need to get back on track too, and this match could well end in a draw.
Wolves vs Everton Betting Tips:
