Wolves vs Everton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 1st November 2021
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

The Monday night game will see Wolves take on Everton and the home side would go past the Merseysiders with victory.

On form Wolves have the 5th best record in the league and are unbeaten in their last 4 games. That includes 3 wins and their last match ended in a 1-1 draw away to Leeds. However after a slow start Bruno Lage’s side have been impressive however at home they have really struggled.

Wolves have 13 points so far and yet only 3 of their points have come in front of their own fans. The club actually began the season by losing their first 3 home games and the pressure on the new manager was obviously mounting but after turning results around away from home they finally won at home. The victory came against Newcastle and that was their last home game.

Who should go in hiding for Everton? You could point the finger at manager Rafa Benitez but for the last game maybe just point the finger at the Everton back four. Last weekend was a stunning loss for the club who were 2-1 up against Watford at home with twelve minutes to go and lost the game 5-2. That simply is not good enough and it must be worrying for Benitez at how his players just imploded. Still perhaps there can be positives to be found, maybe this result being unearthed at this stage of the season will get Benitez to better understand the players he is working with. Everton are very capable of impressing and playing good football but there is the other side to the club which can be terribly frustrating for the fans.

Everton are in 8th place with 14 points and after a bright start have slipped 8 points behind the league leaders. The Toffee’s have gone their last 3 games without a win and that includes losing their last 2. The club have not won a game for a month and that came against bottom side Norwich. Current form has been poor for Everton and they would be in 16th place based on that with just 1 victory in their last five games. On the road it’s just one victory so far for the club but their last away game ended 1-1 against Manchester United which was a valuable point.

Wolves vs Everton Prediction:

This game has to be about not losing for Everton because the manner of the defeat against Watford would have been a hammer blow to the club. Benitez will have had his work cut out this week to install a belief system and get the club back on their feet again. It is unfortunate for them that they will be playing an inform side in Wolves and away from home.

Everton can be a tricky team to play and it depends what team turns up but all of the confidence is with the home side. Everton does have a good memory of playing Wolves though having done the double over the club last season.

Ultimately it will be interesting to see how Everton recover after such a poor defeat and it could speak volumes of Benitez as a manager but even without the loss the fact is that the club are playing a side in good form, and we have to give the edge to Wolves in this encounter.
