Wolves vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Friday 30th October 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

The Friday night game in the Premier League will take place between two clubs who certainly know how to punch above their weight in recent seasons and so this should be a fairly entertaining encounter.

Wolves look like they are getting back their form which has impressed most observers in the past 18 months with a hard fought work rate and quick counter attacking and this has been seen to brilliant effect over their past 3 games where they have remained unbeaten. Wins against Fulham and Leeds and a draw over Newcastle last weekend has propped the club back into the top 10 and they come into this game in 9th place.

At home Wolves have gone their last two games unbeaten and their only defeat so far here came against Manchester City when they lost 3-1. A victory would actually propel the club into 3rd place going into the weekend so there is a lot of motivation to win this one.

Crystal Palace are in the same position also with 10 points and Roy Hodgson’s team have gone their last two games without defeat after a draw against Brighton and 2-1 win last weekend over bottom club Fulham. Those results were important given that they had lost two consecutive games against Everton and Chelsea and conceded six goals in that time. Whilst Palace are still leaking goals they have been revived somewhat by Wilfried Zaha who is banging in the goals and looking impressively good - perhaps for consistency this season is looking like Zaha’s best.

Team News:

Wolves: The club have the luck of having no major injury worries coming into this fixture.

Crystal Palace: Jack Butland has Coronavirus and is out of this game. Gary Cahill looks like he will miss this game with his shin. Jordan Ayew should be back after recovering from illness. Jairo Riedewald has a slight knock he should be fine but will be assessed.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 2-0 to Wolves.

Wolves have won just 2 games from the last 8 meetings.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

This match is expected to be quite tight and both sides come into this one with some form but at a push Wolves being the home side and usually being very solid here we will go for the home victory.

It will be interesting to see what Santos deploys in midfield as at home he has switched from a 5 man midfield Fulham to four against Newcastle where they could only draw. Raul Jimenez remains the obvious threat for the home side and we will back him once again to get on the score sheet.

Palace have more injuries but their main threat will of course come from Zaha and they have the qualities to score so we will also back both teams to convert.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:

Wolves to beat Crystal Palace at 1.91

Anytime goalscorer: Raul Jimenez at 2.10

Both teams to score at 1.66
