England Premier League
Tuesday 25th April 2023
Kick off at 7:30pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
Wolves look like they are on the road to safety but will feel another win should do it and we should expect the team being at home in a midweek evening encounter to really go for this, there is certainly the motivation to do so. At the weekend the club suffered a blow as they lost 2-1 away to Leicester which ended a 3 game unbeaten run but with 34 points and having a six point advantage over the bottom three the club for now are not in the worst position.
At home Wolves have won 7 games but also lost 7, however recent form at home points to more encouraging signs with 3 wins from their last four and they have also won their last two coming into this game with victories over Chelsea and Brentford.
Crystal Palace’s 3 consecutive wins were ended by Everton at the weekend as the clubs drew 0-0. However Roy Hodgson remains unbeaten so far after four games back in the dugout and with 37 points Palace will be safe now, which was always the objective of bringing Hodgson back. A few weeks ago despite how poor Chelsea have been it didn’t seem possible that they could drop to 12th place as there was a 9 point gap but if Palace were to win this game they would go past Frank Lampard’s side at least until Wednesday when the Blues take on Brentford.
While Crystal Palace have lost 50% of their games away from home they have won their last two, beating Leeds and Southampton and scoring 7 goals in the process. Indeed the club has the 9th best away record earning 16 points from a possible 48.
Team News:
Wolves: Mario Lemina could be assessed for his hamstring but is likely to miss out.
Crystal Palace: Wilfried Zaha is not due back until the weekend but could be assessed for this game following his recent groin injury. Nathaniel Clyne is making progress with his knee but will miss this game. Nathan Ferguson now has a muscle problem and is expected to miss the rest of the season.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:
Last season Crystal Palace won this fixture 2-0.
Crystal Palace have won the last 4 meetings.
There is a 90% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
One of the first choices we should make is to see under 2.5 goals. A return of 90% is just too good to refuse. Granted it was actually the earlier game in the season that broke that trend when Palace won 2-1 but if we go on Palace’s last game against Everton, while they are a side who can create chances they looked quite toothless. Palace’s players will know that they will be safe this season, so they can relax to a degree and that means that their remaining games may not be eye catching.
As for Wolves they are almost safe but recent results over Palace have not been good and it’s been 3 years since they last claimed victory over them. Wilfried Zaha will be a late call perhaps but he looks like he will just miss out which is unfortunate as he has a great record of scoring against Wolves. Alas let’s turn our attention to Eberechi Eze who has got on the score sheet against Wolves in two of the last four games and he is great value to do so again and could be worth looking at. We expect to see a very close game that could well end with spoils shared, as ever backing the draw could be risky so take the half time result instead.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:
Half Time Result: Draw at 2.00
Under 2.5 goals at 1.57
Anytime goalscorer: Eberechi Eze at 6.00
