England Premier League
Monday 20th July 2020
Kick off at 8:15pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
These two teams will have a lot of respect for one another because their respective managers do too and this should be a fascinating game to watch.
Both have had good seasons although by far Wolves have had the better as European football beckons for the club. Palace have had stability although have been accused by some of taking their foot off the pedal once they knew they would be safe this season.
It’s interesting to note that just under 50% of Wolves points have come at home, usually for a team chasing a top 7 position that would be over 50%. They have had a few setbacks at home think of the recent loss to Arsenal and have maybe lost some of their earlier season cutting edge but they will be favourites to win this game nonetheless.
Crystal Palace have never really recovered from losing 4 games in a row even though they have played some good football in that time. The Eagles have lost 7 games away from home but the majority of those defeats have happened in 2020, their main problem has been scoring goals on the road and they have conceded quite a few in recent encounters.
Team News:
Wolves: No new injury concerns.
Crystal Palace: Palace have defensive issues with Gary Cahill, James Tomkins, and Patrick van Aanholt all out. Christian Benteke is suspended.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:
Earlier in the season in the reverse game the teams drew 1-1.
Last season Crystal Palace won this fixture 2-0.
Wolves have not beaten Crystal Palace when at home since 2008 going back 4 games.
60% of games have seen both teams to score.
There hasn’t been a 0-0 between the clubs in over 15 years.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
Crystal Palace get good results against Wolves and they will be the more relaxed team of the two. If Roy Hodgson plays his strongest 11 they can give Wolves a game and this is a match that could turn very tricky for the home side.
Wolves have only beaten Palace once in the last 7 meetings however Palace look to be in holiday mode now, losing the last 6 games, and Wolves have a lot to play for with European qualification up for grabs. Therefore we will back Wolves for the home win and for Raul Jimenez to get on the scoresheet.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Wolves) at 1.92
Anytime goalscorer: Raul Jimenez at 2.05
