England Premier League
Saturday 11th May 2024
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
Wolves come into this game in 12th place with 46 points and their European hopes are over but they have had strong moments throughout the season. However recent form has not been too clever with three defeats from their last four games and their latest game ended in a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Manchester City. A loss against City would have been expected and it was away from home but overall recent form has blown the clubs chances of finishing in a decent position although they do have the chance to still finish in the top half of the table.
Crystal Palace are the second best team in the Premier League based on recent form and Oliver Glasner’s side are in a golden moment. They have won 4 of their last 5 games and have won 13 points from their last 15 on offer. The Eagles have been able to beat some quality teams also including Liverpool away from home, Newcastle, West Ham and then on Monday evening they destroyed Manchester United 4-0 to top off what has been an incredible month of football from them. Palace are in 14th place and may well still finish 13th or even 12th with the form they are showing with just two games to go. Whilst Palace have lost almost 50% of their games away from home when we look at their recent record it is just one loss from their last four trips. The clubs last away game finished in a 1-1 draw with Fulham.
Team News:
Wolves: Mario Lemina will be assessed for a hamstring injury and is being tipped to return. Both Leon Chinwone and Craig Dawson are out for the season
Crystal Palace: Chieck Doucoure and Sam Johnstone are out for the season with respective Achilles and arm injuries. Matheus Franca is missing with a groin injury and may not return again this season although that has not been confirmed
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:
Last season Wolves won this fixture 2-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Crystal Palace won 3-2.
Crystal Palace have won 5 of the last 6 meetings.
There is an 80% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Wolves vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
In recent games Crystal Palace have the hold over Wolves and with the great form they have been showing lately would it really be such a surprise to see them beat them again? This is of course Wolves final home game of the season and they will want to give a good performance for their fans. However we think there is no reason to doubt that Palace can continue their excellent form. The players have such a belief in themselves and have found great consistency and they are a great price to win this game so the away win is our choice.
For Palace Eberechi Eze has shown good form especially in key moments in the second half to the season and has looked very sharp. He can score goals too and he has put a few past Wolves in the last three meetings, so we will back him to get on the score sheet. This is a fixture that has seen under goals, but this one looks set up well to go over so that will also be a market to back. Both teams have nothing to lose so we are expecting a nice and free flowing match.
