England Premier League
Saturday 8th April 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
Wolves will be the underdogs at the weekend and have a potentially difficult game as they take on Chelsea and the club will need the points being just one point shy of the bottom three. It sounds madness to say that given that Julen Lopetegui’s side are in 14th place but with 28 points to their name a lot can change if their rivals win and they lose this home game.
Recent form for Wolves has been poor with just one win in their last five although they were able to claim a point last weekend away to Nottingham Forest in a game that finished 1-1. At home Wolves have fared better but the majority of their results are still defeats with 7 so far and while they have won 3 of their last five here they have also lost to Leeds and Bournemouth, direct rivals for possible relegation.
Is there ever a quiet moment at Chelsea? This season has seen two managerial sackings in Thomas Tuchel and then Graham Potter and next up is…. Frank Lampard. Lampard former Chelsea legend has already managed Chelsea of course and was sacked by them too before going to Everton and collecting his P45 in Merseyside. Lampard is back at Chelsea in an expected short term role until the end of the season but he will see this as an opportunity to impress the clubs new owners.
Chelsea need a lot of fixing as they are down in 11th place with 39 points and no wins in their last 3 games. Chelsea’s last game finished 0-0 against Liverpool and after being able to play two games in a row at home they will now venture away. On the road the majority of results have been losses with 6 so far and just four wins.

It’s been 3 years since Chelsea beat Wolves away from home.
Wolves vs Chelsea Prediction:
Wolves are at home and need the win more than Chelsea do. But Frank Lampard needs the win more than Chelsea do, this is going to be an interesting game as Lampard tries to make his mark with a statement first win back in the saddle again. The obstacle that Lampard has to get over is the mentality of a team who have a lot of quality but there mental strengths have to be questioned. No player will admit it but they know that their season is over and likely can’t finish any lower than 11th , well we are talking about their domestic season. But the Champions League is still very much alive and one has to question how the players will arrive here against Wolves not wanting to get injured and miss out on a date with Real Madrid next week?
Wolves are struggling and on paper at least they won’t win this game but if they give their all they can certainly make up with a lack of quality with passion and commitment and a shrewd choice could be taking the home side on for the double chance which would cover the draw. Of note these games can be high scoring but we have witnessed a couple of back to back to recent 0-0’s and this may well be another low scoring fixture.
Wolves vs Chelsea Betting Tips:
