Wolves vs Burnley: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 25th April 2021
Kick off at 12noon BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves have found some form lately and Nuno Espirito Santo’s team will be hoping to make it 3 wins in a row when they host Burnley on Sunday.

Whilst Wolves are very much safe and that isn’t an issue, they are very likely to miss out on Europe due to their poor offering in the middle of the season. Though the club have been hit with key injuries in this campaign and have really felt the loss of selling Diogo Jota last summer to Liverpool. It’s been good that the club have recently picked themselves up and won two games but cynics can point out that the victories have come against the 18th and 20th placed sides in Fulham and Sheffield United.

Burnley are in 17th place and at this time they play a key role in the relegation battle. Fulham and West Bromwich Albion only have the slightest chances of staying up because of Burnley who are on 33 points. Fulham are 6 points behind and West Brom are 9 behind. The bad news for Sean Dyche’s team is that they come into this match having lost their last 3 games. Last weekend they were defeated 3-1 away to Manchester United, although an expected result Burnley did play some good football.

Away from home Burnley have won 15 points from a possible 48 and have lost 3 of their last four games. Of note this is Burnley’s game in hand over Fulham and if they win they will take a huge step to safety.

Team News:

Wolves: Ruben Neves has Covid-19 and is ruled out. Marcal is nearing a return after his on going groin injury but is expected to miss this game. Jonny, Pedro Neto and Raul Jimenez are all missing with long term injuries.

Burnley: Kevin Long and Robert Brady are out both with an Achilles injury. Ashley Barnes could return soon after his thigh injury but is expected to miss this game. Nick Pope is expected to play after his shoulder injury and will be assessed.

Wolves vs Burnley Head to Head:

The clubs drew 1-1 in this fixture from last season.

Burnley won 2-1 in the reverse fixture from earlier in the season.

There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Wolves vs Burnley Prediction:

Wolves won’t make any real impacts on the league for the remainder of the season but they will try and enjoy their football. This is a game that will be watched by every squad member of Fulham and West Bromwich Albion who will be cheering the home side on and we expect them to win this game.

It may not be a pretty match to watch and could turn quite physical, and we don't see too many goals in this one. There is zero pressure on the home side to win and everything on Burnley’s shoulders who know the key to playing in the Premier League next season is in this game.
