England Premier League
Sunday 16th September 2018
Kick off at 1.30pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium
Match Preview:
Wolves have certainly got tongues wagging after a start, which has seen them claim draws over Manchester City and Everton. Their recent last gasp winner at West Ham would have boosted the team as that was their first win of the season and the club will be looking to gain all three points in this home match with Burnley.
Sean Dyche’s team have struggled early on this season and for most this has been a consequence of trying to put all of their eggs in one basket in qualifying for the Europa League. Alas they were knocked out at the final hurdle and that could be a blessing in disguise for The Clarets.
It’s been a nightmare start for a team that have looked a shadow of themselves from last season and they come into this game in 19th place and searching for their first win of the season, indeed they have lost their last 3 matches.
Team News:
Wolves: The only worry for Wolves is Raul Jimenez who picked up a muscle injury on international duty with Mexico and he remains a doubt
Burnley: Stephan Ward is a doubt after suffering a knock during international duty with Republic of Ireland. Ben Gibson could return after a muscle problem but may not start. Robert Brady has worked hard in the reserves due to lack of match fitness and may be considered for some role here
Wolves vs Burnley Head to Head:
The last time the teams played here was in 2015 where the match ended 0-0.
Because mainly of a lack of fixtures Wolves have not beaten Burnley at home in 9 years.
3 of the last 4 games that have taken place at Wolves ended in under 2.5 goals.
Wolves vs Burnley Prediction:
Wolves are the odds on favourites to win this game but have they really justified this tag? There has been a lot of talk about the teams determination on the pitch but for all of that they have just 1 win from their opening four games, and most likely that win against West Ham could have been a draw on any other day.
Wolves should be solid at home this season but are they a team that will only raise their game against the better ones? Burnley had a disadvantage at the beginning of the season with the Europa League, but Sean Dyche is a good manager that has put in the hours to fix the teams problems over the international break. However there is no doubt Burnley overchieved last season, and that makes us fancy Wolves but not at these odds. Therefore as both teams will see this match as an opportunity to win, we will target the goals market and an attacking game.
