Wolves vs Brentford: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 15th April 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves are in 13th and while that feels like a safe position it isn’t with just 8 games left to go of the season. The club has 31 points and they are currently just 4 points shy of the bottom three but they are in good place to stay up. Julen Lopetgui’s side have been able to go their last two games undefeated after a draw against Nottingham Forest and then they beat Chelsea at home by 1-0. That was a huge result for them and it is really pointing in the direction that the club will be safe this season.

At home Wolves have won 6 games but they have also suffered and lost seven times here meaning that they have the fifth to worse record in the league and overall have collected 20 points from a possible 45. Home form has seen two defeats from their last five but they have won 3 of their last five here also.

Brentford have been missing the honey pot lately and have gone their last 4 games without a win. Their last two have ended in defeat and those came against Newcastle and Manchester United. But Thomas Frank’s side haven’t tasted victory since beating Southampton 2-0 a month ago. On the road the Bees have a mixed bag of results with their most dominant being a draw with 7 so far and just one win from their past five. While Brentford have really punched above their weight this season it seems evident that the club have been tiring and form has taken a hit in the past few weeks. However if they can finish strong then a European finish is still on the cards and they do have 43 points and are four from their target.

Team News:

Wolves: Jonny is suspended and won’t return until next week, Ruben Neves is also suspended and is back next week. Matheus Nunes has a knock and it isn’t thought to be too serious and he will be assessed.

Brentford: Kristoffer Ajer is out with a calf injury, Pontus Jansson has been ruled out for the season with a hamstring injury. Keane Lewis-Potter has a knee injury and is out until at least next month.

Wolves vs Brentford Head to Head:

The teams last played this fixture in 2021 and Brentford won 2-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture the teams drew 1-1.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Wolves vs Brentford Prediction:

This will be a close game and we expect it to end in a draw. Wolves of course need the points and they will have to take some risks but we expect to see a quiet first half before the game fully opens up in the second and one good market to back would be to see more goals in the 2nd half. We expect a low scoring game as Brentford will just be happy to earn a point and get back on track on their form. They look tired but having Ivan Toney in your ranks is always going to be a plus factor. Wolves have looked very good one week and average the next but we should see a good performance from them at home but that doesn’t guarantee a win, these are very nervous times for the bottom seven clubs at the moment. It’s unfortunate that Ruben Neves is missing for Wolves as he has knack of scoring in these fixtures and perhaps that is another pointer as to why this game could be set to be a non event and low scoring.

Wolves vs Brentford Betting Tips:
