Wolves vs Arsenal: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 2nd February 2021
Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Wolves problems continue and at the weekend the club lost their 10th game of the season with defeat against Crystal Palace. The clubs season looks shot now and with 23 points they will be having one eye on the bottom three catching them and on the other spectrum knowing that European football for next season looks very distant.

Nuno Espirito Santo will be very mindful that the only thing that matters now is for his side to stay up for this season. Wolves have a 9 point safety net and they should be fine but their recent form has been so poor that the worry can’t subside just yet. As an example of how Wolves have fallen this season they have won just six points from their last 30 on offer.

Home form has been a real let down for the club winning just 30% of games so far and Wolves have lost their last two home matches with their last victory here coming against Chelsea six weeks ago.

While Wolves are continuing their poor form Arsenal are going in the opposite direction and haven’t lost a game since December 19th when they were defeated by Everton. The Gunners have earned 11 points from their last 15 and at the weekend they held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at the Emirates. Arsenal come into this game in 10th place and should enter the top half of the table with victory.

Away from home Arsenal have won their last 3 and will come into this match with a lot of confidence. The Gunners last away match ended in an impressive 3-1 victory against Southampton.

Team News:

Wolves: Romain Saiss has a knock which kept him out of the last game and he will be assessed. There are long term injuries to Jonny, Raul Jimenez and Marcal.

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had missed the last couple of games due to personal reasons but is now in quarantine and is ruled out of this game. Dani Ceballos has fitness issues and will be assessed. Bukayo Saka has a hip injury, though it is thought to be minor and he will face a test. Alexandre Lacazette has a knock and will be assessed. Kieran Tierney missed out on the last game due to a calf injury and will be assessed.

Wolves vs Arsenal Head to Head:

Last season Arsenal won this match 2-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Wolves beat Arsenal 2-1.

4 of the last five league games has seen both teams to score.

From the last 5 games where Wolves have been the home side v Arsenal, Wolves has just 1 win.

Wolves vs Arsenal Prediction:

Arsenal are in good form and good spirits and will come into this match believing that three points can be theirs. The worry is that a few key players could be missing. We know that Aubameyang is out but actually Arsenal have been dealing without his services lately. The problem could be the losses of both Laczaette and Saka who have been on form. There is no confirmation that either player will miss this game but they will have to be assessed for what is believed to be minor problems.

Wolves know all too well about losing key players and Raul Jimenez was injured a few months ago playing against Arsenal and he is still out. Form will turn for Wolves but if Arsenal can have some good news with their assessments we feel that the Gunners can continue their good form. Arsenal have the better players and look a different side to what they were at the end of last year, and that has to be positive.
