West Ham vs Nottm Forest: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Match Preview:

Rumours are persisting that David Moyes will be sacked if West Ham were to lose this game and with just one win in their past 13 it is easy to see why there is so much pressure on the Scotsman.

A few weeks back West Ham won a vital game against Everton which saved Moyes job but meant that his opposite number Frank Lampard was sacked however fast-forward to now and the Hammers are trailing Everton in the league by a point. Of course there has been improvement for West Ham in recent weeks and last weekend’s loss against Tottenham is the only loss in the last four games. The bottom line though is that Moyes team are 18th and at the end of February that doesn’t bode well. At home the majority result is defeat with 5 so far from 11 games and four victories. The Hammers have managed to remain undefeated in their last two games here with a win over Everton and a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Nottingham Forest have found form at the right time and for a good six weeks now have not looked like a club that could drop back into the Championship. There have been wins over Leeds and Leicester and a couple of draws against Bournemouth and Manchester City, yes Manchester City. Last weekend Forest picked up an infamous point against the champions even though they were completely dominated. The club had one shot on target which was their goal right at the end of the game to earn a great point. Forest then are in 13th place however away from home does expose the club more and they currently have the worst away form in the league having won only six points from a possible 33. Incredibly the most stunning statistic is goals scored on the road which is only 3 so far. Their last away game ended in a 2-0 defeat against Fulham.

Team News:

West Ham: There are no new injuries for the club but they have 3 players who have been absentees for an extended period. These are Kurt Zouma (hip), Maxwell Cornet (calf) and Lucus Paqueta (shoulder).

Nottingham Forest: Serge Aurier has a shoulder injury and looks set to miss the next 3-4 weeks. Dean Henderson is out for another two weeks at least with his thigh injury, Jesse Lingard could be assessed after recovering from his knee injury but remains a doubt to be fit for this game. Scott McKenna is out with a hamstring injury and won’t return for at least four weeks. Ryan Yates has some fitness issues and will be assessed. Moussa Niakhate, Omar Richards, Willy Boly, Giulian Biancone and Taiwo Awoniyi all remain sidelined.

West Ham vs Nottm Forest Head to Head:

The clubs have not played this fixture since 2012 when, in the Championship, West Ham won 2-1.

West Ham have not lost at home to Forest since 1997.

There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.

West Ham vs Nottm Forest Prediction:

Nottingham Forest are the side coming into this one with a spring in their step but unless we are about to see a dreadful performance from West Ham we think the home side can keep Forest in check. It’s true that Forest have never played at West Ham’s new stadium but they still have a poor record playing the Hammers away from home, Forest also have a poor away record and despite all the misery being thrown around the Hammers can be solid in front of their home fans and we expect some players to turn up and get the job done here as quite a few have clearly been under performing. We will back Moyes side to not only get the win but we expect a few goals here too.

There have been players for the Hammers that performed to a high level last season like Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen and they need to up their game, so keep an eye on them. Do not forget that Jesse Lingard was on loan at the Hammers and time and time again we have seen players come back to haunt their former sides, so if he is fit back him too to get into the mix.
