England Premier League
Wednesday 26th April 2023
Kick off at 7:45pm BST
Venue: London Stadium
Match Preview:
It’s been an excellent week for West Ham who reached their second successive European semi-final as they knocked out Gent in the Europa Conference League and they followed that up with an brilliant 4-0 win away to Bournemouth and the club are now on the cusp of survival.
David Moyes has faced criticism this season but his side have scored 10 goals in their last 3 games and will come into this game in form and with belief. The Hammers have 34 points and one more win should be enough to secure their status for next season. It’s been just one loss in their last five and they have gone their last 3 games unbeaten. Fans won’t be forgetting the Hammers last league game at home which finished in a 2-2 draw against London rivals and the team on top of the league in Arsenal. After just 10 minutes the Hammers were trailing 2-0 and it looked like being a nightmare result for them but they clawed their way back into the game and since then it has served as a catalyst and it seems to have restarted the clubs season.
Liverpool are in 7th and have a chance for European football next season as they have 50 points and are only 3 shy of Tottenham who currently occupy a Europa League place and the Reds have a game in hand over the London team. Of course Aston Villa are inbetween them and will also have a say but Jurgen Klopp will understand the task at hand and that is getting back to winning games consistently, which has been a real struggle for the Reds so far. Perhaps the good news is that Liverpool have gone their last 4 games unbeaten with two wins and two draws. They have won two games in a row and scored 9 goals after wins against Leeds and Nottingham Forest and it’s no defeats since the beginning of the month when they were hammered 4-1 by Manchester City.
Away has been an Achilles heel for this Liverpool side though who have lost 50% of their games and scored just 20 goals however they have gone their last two games unbeaten with the win at Leeds and they also drew 0-0 against Chelsea. Still it is just 4 wins on the road from 16 games.
Team News:
West Ham: The Hammer have no new injuries with only Gianluca Scamacca out who has been injured for several weeks with his knee, he has no fixed return date.
Liverpool: Naby Keita is out with a muscle injury and not due back for a month, Roberto Firmino is out for at least 10 days due to a muscle injury. Calvin Ramsey and Stefan Bajcetic are ruled out for the season.
West Ham vs Liverpool Head to Head:
Last season West Ham won this fixture 3-2.
Liverpool have won 10 of the last 12 games.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Liverpool won 1-0.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
West Ham vs Liverpool Prediction:
We should see a high paced and frantic game as Liverpool look to try and finish the season strongly to appease their supporters in what has been a terrible campaign by their standards and the least they can do is to try and finish in a Europa League position. Liverpool have a fantastic record over West Ham and they will look to assert their quality over the side. Of course the Hammers will feel that at home they can be a match for most teams and last season they were able to beat Liverpool here but the facts remain that overall between these two sides the Reds usually come out as winners.
Liverpool have been able to score 9 goals in their last two games, and of course in all competitions West Ham have 8 this is why we think we could be in for a high scoring game and an entertaining one at that, so there are many favourable markets for us to get stuck into, we won’t look past Liverpool though for the win.
