England Premier League
Monday 8th March 2021
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: London Stadium
Match Preview:
Not since 1986 have West Ham had such a good showing in the top flight and the club could go 5th depending on how the Chelsea and Everton game pans out earlier in the evening. But even in the worst case scenario with Chelsea wining, a Hammers victory at home would see the club just 2 points from a top 4 place.
Form has been very good for David Moyes side and they have lost just twice in the last 10 games. The club were defeated in their last match but given it was away to Manchester City it was expected and the score was only 2-1. The Hammers played some good football and could hold their heads up high after the game. In short the team have kept very solid for the majority of the season and have been hard to beat, they are on a roll.
At home the Hammers have won 24 points from 39 and lost just 3 times, and their last home game ended in a 2-1 win over Tottenham. The club have won their last 2 home games with just one defeat so far this year.
Leeds’ form has dropped over the past few weeks and Marcelo Bielsa’s side have lost 3 of their last four games. The clubs last game ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Aston Villa. The club should be safe though and that was always going to be the priority for them. They come into this game in 11th place with 35 points and are 9 points from the bottom three.
Away form is poor or great depending on how you look at it, poor because they have acquired 7 defeats but have also won six games on the road and are yet to draw. However Leeds have lost their last two games on the road against Wolves and Arsenal.
Team News:
West Ham: Lukask Fabianski should be fine to play after his arm injury. Ryan Fredericks has a groin injury and is only 50/50 to come back for this one. Andriy Yarmolenko is out long term with his knee injury.
Leeds: Kalvin Phillips is only 50/50 to return for this game after his calf injury. Robin Koch is back in training after a long lay off with his knee, but isn’t expected to be rushed back for this game. Jamie Shackleton is 50/50 after his hip injury and Rodrigo could return after some fitness issues but will face a late test.
West Ham vs Leeds Head to Head:
The last time the clubs played at West Ham was in the Hammers old stadium back in 2011 and that game finished 2-2.
The last 5 meetings have all seen both teams to score.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture West Ham beat Leeds 2-1.
West Ham vs Leeds Prediction:
This has all of the ingredients to be a very entertaining game of football with lots of chances for both sides and end to end play. That is why the both teams to score market looks like one that should be backed.
Leeds do pose a threat but we have to respect that West Ham has one of the best home records in the league and Leeds have lost more than half of their matches away from home. It’s Moyes v Bielsa but it’s also a very tactically aware coach against a thinking man in Bielsa but one that has an achilles heel as he won’t change Leeds attacking system. So playing against a team like West Ham could be like playing Russian roulette. Our tip here is to back the home side, which will keep their dreams of a top 4 finish alive.
West Ham vs Leeds Betting Tips:
