West Ham vs Fulham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 7th November 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

West Ham aren’t always good looking solid favourites to win a game but for this London derby and looking at how both teams have started their campaigns David Moyes side should have little trouble winning this one.

Then again as any West Ham fan will tell you, this is West Ham. So despite coming through a nightmare set of fixtures mostly unscathed they could come unstuck here, this is what history says.

The Hammers have looked impressive over the past four weeks though. Attacking up front, stable in midfield and solid in defence, this is a credit to Moyes who was being tipped to take the Hammers down this season. They have pulled off some remarkable results, when they beat Wolves 4-0, that was the first time that the Hammers had even scored a goal against the club since being promoted back to the Premier League. When they beat Leicester 3-0 at King Power Stadium, the Foxes had no shots on target - since then they have recovered and are in 2nd place. Recently West Ham claimed a 1-1 draw against Manchester City.

Even last weekend when they lost 2-1 at Liverpool it was an intensely close game rounded off by a Mohamed Salah penalty when even ex Liverpool players thought that the Egyptian had made a meal of the way he fell to ground.

Fulham by contrast have just 1 win this season yet if they beat West Ham will only be a point behind them. Scott Parker’s side have started the campaign poorly but the good news is that they did win their last game which ended in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

The Cottagers have lost 5 games this season and are conceding on average 2 goals a game. Their last away match ended in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United.

Team News:

West Ham: Michail Antonio’s hamstring is thought to be minor and he should be back soon, but this game might be too soon for him and he could miss out. Aaron Cresswell has a groin injury but is being tipped to feature in this match. Mark Noble has a rib injury and looks set to miss this clash.

Fulham: Aboubakar Johansen is suspended for this game. Mario Lemina is only 50/50 to make this match as he has a knock.

West Ham vs Fulham Head to Head:

Last season West Ham won this fixture 3-1.

Fulham has just 1 victory from the last four league meetings.

Fulham have not beaten West Ham in London since 2001.

West Ham vs Fulham Prediction:

We feel West Ham should be able to ease to victory based on how they have started the season. It would feel very unfortunate if the club could only raise their game because they had a succession of very tough fixtures just to let it drop again. If West Ham show the same intensity in this game that we have seen over the past few weeks how can they not beat Fulham?

Of course football is never that simple and who is to say that with victory last weekend Fulham won’t win a batch of games? But without hindsight we will be backing markets positive to a home victory.

Though the Hammers have done well they only have 8 points and are in 14th place, they could still get dragged down further- this game is all about them not blowing all of their hard work over the previous weeks.
