West Ham vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 28th August 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

Last season felt like a new dawn for West Ham but few would have felt that the Hammers could change into a consistent team, but if the beginning of the season is anything to go by then they will.

Win at the weekend and West Ham will go into the first international break as the league leaders. The Hammers have been hammering teams too, Newcastle 4-2 on the opening day of the season and then Leicester the team that finished in 5th place last season were dealt with in a 4-1 win.

The Hammers are playing great football and it isn’t going over the top to suggest that we are seeing the best West Ham team in a generation, collectively they have been so far. The club didn’t have to play in the early round of the EFL Cup but have learned that they will play Manchester United next away and their Europa League exploits will begin in 3 weeks time.

Crystal Palace haven’t scored a goal yet but at the same time last weekend was all about stabilising the ship after they were well beaten by Chelsea in the opening weekend of the season. That the Eagles did in a way by drawing 0-0 against Brentford. Home fans would have wanted the win but at the same time Palace have a point on the board and they also kept a clean sheet.

There was disappointing news in midweek when the Eagles were dumped out of the EFL Cup as they lost 1-0 against fellow Premier League team Watford. However at the same time Vieira will understand that this season is all about survival in the league.

Team News:

West Ham: The Hammers have no injury concerns ahead of this game.

Crystal Palace: There are no new injury problems for the club but it is unclear if Luka Milivojevic will return, he has missed the last few weeks out due to personal reasons.

West Ham vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Last season West Ham drew this match 1-1.

West Ham have not beaten Crystal Palace when at home since 2018.

There is an 80% chance to see both teams to score.

West Ham vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

West Ham are in great form and while football can be full of shocks and surprises we feel there would need to be a major one not to see Moyes’ side win this game. It would be a real deflater for them, but the way the team are playing at the moment and the way they are enjoying their football suggests that Palace will not get much of a look in.

Still in the likes of Wilfried Zaha Palace do have genuine quality and will have their chances. But the Hammers will feel on top of the world coming into this game, and we will also back man of the moment Michail Antonio to add to his goals. West Ham to win and top the league standings going into the international break looks good and Moyes will likely be collecting the first manager of the month of the season in doing so.
