England Premier League
Sunday 6th November 2022
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: London Stadium
Match Preview:
West Ham have been brilliant in Europe and they have cruised into the knock out stages of the Europa Conference League without losing a game. In the Premier League their form has turned round and after a slow start they are getting to grips with the league once more and their objective will be to break into the top 10 soon enough. Currently the Hammers are in 13th place with 14 points and they have lost two of their last three games. That doesn’t look like good form but those two defeats have come against Liverpool and Manchester United.
At home David Moyes side are a different proposition and they have won their last 3 games in a row with victories over Wolves, Fulham and Bournemouth. It’s just two defeats so far at home and their last was back in August. The Hammers have won 10 of their 14 points in front of their home fans and so will start as the favourites to collect another three points on Sunday.
Crystal Palace could see West Ham take them over with a loss here and they are in 10th place with 16 points. Palace are having the best form of their season so far with just one defeat in their last five which came against Everton. Last weekend Patrick Vieira’s side picked up their fourth win of the season as they narrowly beat Southampton 1-0 at home. On the road Palace have struggled though and are yet to record a win winning just 3 points from a possible 15 on offer. They lost 3-0 at Everton in their last game, but they have claimed draws at Liverpool and Newcastle which was impressive. The club remain unpredictable and that could be a danger for West Ham.
Team News:
West Ham: Maxwell Cornet is only 50/50 to feature in this game as he recovers from a calf injury and may not be risked. Lukasz Fabianski has a knee injury and while it is not thought to be serious he is a doubt. Lucas Paqueta should return for this one but may start from the bench as he gets back up to fitness.
Crystal Palace: Jack Butland has recovered from his hand injury and is back in training but remains a doubt to make it for this game but may be assessed. Chieck Doucoure has a slight knock and will be assessed as will Odsonne Edouard for the same reason. Nathan Ferguson is injury free but has a lack of match fitness and may not be ready for this game. James McArthur is sidelined with his hip. Chris Richards is out with a hamstring injury but may return next weekend.

West Ham vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
Most analysing this game would say that West Ham are in the better position to win this game, but they have drawn a few against Crystal Palace when at home recently. Indeed the Hammers have not beaten the Eagles when at home for 4 years and they have had to play an extra game in Europe in midweek to boot. At the same time form at home has been impressive and if they can command the game early on then they have every chance to win and win well. Palace have been able to raise their game against the quality sides in the league and are not easy to play against but they have failed to be consistent enough to trouble mid table teams away from home. In fact Palace’s away form is poor and travelling to a side like West Ham who have goals in them will be difficult for Vieira’s side.
In Wilfried Zaha Palace always have an option to score goals but Odsonne Edouard could be a doubt and that could hurt them. The Hammers will have to be focused to win and Moyes can point to the fact that he was able to rest a few regulars for their European adventures in midweek, and so this game appears to be in West Ham’s court, and they should have enough here to get the three points. Look out for Michail Antonio who has scored in the last two meetings against Palace and Thomas Soucek has done well against Palace too and is a good price to score during the match.
