West Ham vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 27th December 2020
Kick off at 2:15pm GMT
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

All of a sudden West Ham have won 1 game from their past four and one senses they really need a win on Boxing Day. The Hammers have dropped down to 10th place but they are only 5 points from a top 4 position.

Overall West Ham have looked strong this season although against Chelsea on Monday evening they looked fatigued and toothless as they lost 3-0. Back at home and playing Brighton they will be the favourites to win, at home David Moyes side have won 3 games from seven but they have gone their last two games in London without a win. One could also criticise their goalscoring record at home with just 10 goals so far, for a side in the top 10 you would be expecting more of a return.

Brighton are in 17th place and are 2 points clear of the bottom three and if they lose this and Fulham win their game against Brighton they are in the relegation zone. Brighton have gone their last 2 games undefeated, though they both finished in draws. Last weekend Sheffield United managed to grab just their 2nd point of the season against Graham Potter’s side and Brighton have no wins in their last five games and have earned just 3 points from their last 15.

On the road Brighton have 2 wins and their last 3 trips to London have seen no wins, (2 draws and one defeat). Their last away game ended 0-0 against Fulham.

Team News:

West Ham: Michail Antonio is 50/50 to return after his hamstring. Manuel Lanzini has a hamstring injury but it isn’t thought to be serious he will be assessed.

Brighton: The club have no new fresh injury concerns coming into this encounter.

West Ham vs Brighton Head to Head:

Last season this match finished 3-3.

The last 3 league meetings have ended in draws.

It’s been 7 games since West Ham beat Brighton and you would have to go back to 2012 when they won 6-0.

4 from the last 5 meetings has seen both teams to score.

West Ham vs Brighton Prediction:

This game will be about character for West Ham. The Hammers are still one of the surprise packages of this season but you would have to be worried about how they performed in their last game against Chelsea, is this the start of a bad run, or just a poor game?

We will opt for the poor game and to see the home side back at home and beating a team who are seven positions below them. We will also back Thomas Soucek to score anytime. On his day he has been brilliant for the Hammers, one of their best buys in years and he can cause Brighton problems.

West Ham vs Brighton Betting Tips:
