Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

Is time running out for David Moyes at West Ham? Perhaps he can’t be judged on the Hammers last game losing against the league leaders Arsenal but overall this has been a disappointing season for a club who were tipped to make progress this season. Against Arsenal which was always going to be a difficult game they had taken the lead so to lose 3-1 in the end hasn’t washed well with fans.

As it stands West Ham are in 16th place and have 14 points and are just one point from dropping into the relegation zone. If the club need more bad news then alongside Southampton they have the worst form having lost their last 4. The majority of the clubs points have come at home with 10 of their 14 coming this way however they have lost their last two here against Leicester and Crystal Palace and have lost 50% of their games in front of their own fans.

Brentford are having a positive season so far and come into this game in 10th place with 20 points. They are unbeaten in their last four games although three of those ended in draws they have had some difficult games lately including Manchester City who they stunned and beat 2-1 at the Etihad and on Boxing Day they drew 2-2 against Tottenham although were 2-0 up. The Bees could well challenge for a European finish this season which would be remarkable but their season will still be about surviving in the league for a second consecutive season. Away form has only seen one win so far although that was against Manchester City of all teams but the majority of their results has been draws with 4 so far from 8 games.

Team News:

West Ham: Nayef Aguerd is 50/50 to return from a groin injury, Maxwell Cornet is a doubt with a calf injury. Gianluca Scamacca remains a doubt and is rated as only 50/50 to make this game with an ankle injury. Kurt Zouma is expected to miss out again with his knee.

Brentford: Kristoffer Ajer remains sidelined due to a knee injury, Shandon Baptiste has a muscle injury and isn’t due back for another two weeks. Aaron Hickey is nearing a return but will probably miss out here. Frank Onyeka will be assessed after recovering from his hamstring injury but remains only 50/50 to make it.

West Ham vs Brentford Head to Head:

Brentford won this fixture last season 2-1 and beat the Hammers in both of their games home and away.

Brentford have won 4 of the last 6 meetings.

3 of the last four meetings have seen just one team score.

West Ham vs Brentford Prediction:

This is a game that a fully concentrated and confident West Ham side would normally be able to get three points from especially at home. But this could well be a good time to be facing Moyes’ side. West Ham look low on confidence and some of their key players look weary from the World Cup. On the other hand Brentford look alert and ready to re start the season and although Tottenham pegged them back they didn’t lose their last game and really made life difficult for Antonio Conte’s side despite Spurs having the superior team.

This should be a good and entertaining game because West Ham really have to take the game to the Bees but at the same time that will mean gaps opening up and this Brentford side are going to get a lot of chances. Keep an eye on Ivan Toney who scored against Tottenham and will want to prove a point after just missing out on the England team at the World Cup.

West Ham vs Brentford Betting Tips:

Double chance (Draw or Brentford) at 1.84

Anytime goalscorer: Jarrod Bowen at 3.75

Anytime goalscorer: Ivan Toney at 2.50
