West Ham vs Bournemouth: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 24th October 2022
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

The Monday night game will pit West Ham against Bournemouth and here we have two sides who have lost just once in their last four games. It hasn’t been a good start to the season for West Ham though and following on from their good form last season and interesting signings in the summer this campaign has been a disappointment so far.

David Moyes side have played well in Europe but in the Premier League they are in 17th place with 11 points. Their last win came against Fulham two weeks ago and their last game was a defeat against Liverpool, although that was away from home and they only lost 1-0 and missed a penalty. The worry for the Hammers though is that they are not scoring enough goals, just 9 so far, only Wolves and Nottingham Forest have scored less. At home the Hammers have the 3rd to worst record however it seems to be improving and they have gone their last three games unbeaten. Their last home game finished in a 3-1 win over Fulham and they have won their last two in a row.

Bournemouth finally lost a game under Gary O’Neil last week but it was a magnificent run even if the club had drawn a few of them. Did anyone really expect the Cherries to push on after Scott Parker was sacked and not permanetly replaced? So all in all he has done a good job and the club have responded well over the past six weeks. They did taste defeat though in their last game as they lost 1-0 at home to Southampton. The club are in 13th position with 13 points and they will know that the Hammers would go above them with victory.

Away form has seen just one win so far but they have gone their last 3 games unbeaten and that includes an excellent draw against Newcastle. Their last away game ended in a 2-2 draw against Fulham.

Team News:

West Ham: An update on Nayef Aguerd suggests he will be back before the World Cup break but won’t be ready to feature in this game. Maxwell Cornet and Craig Dawson are only 50/50 to make this game. Lucas Paqueta is ruled out with a shoulder injury but could be back in two weeks.

Bournemouth: David Brooks is out with his hamstring injury, Lloyd Kelly misses out with an ankle injury.

West Ham vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

The clubs have not played each other for almost three years but the last fixture here ended in a 3-0 win for West Ham.

Bournemouth have avoided defeat to West Ham in 6 of the last seven meetings.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

West Ham vs Bournemouth Prediction:

West Ham will be favourites to win being at home and we will be backing them to do so too. The Hammers have been underwhelming so far in the league but there is promise at least at home and their form has been looking good in front of their home fans.

For Bournemouth this is about how do they bounce back? These players under O’Neil had done so well not to lose games and now they have tasted that, what does it mean? Is it a blip or the beginning of a bad run of form, because for clubs like Bournemouth this can happen quickly. They will have to regroup but playing West Ham away is not an easy game, and while this could be a close match, the Hammers are capable of scoring a few goals here. True their goal return has not been good so far but the quality is there it is just their application needs to be better, this is a home win for us.
