West Ham vs Aston Villa: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 30th November 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: London Stadium

Match Preview:

This looks like being a tasty encounter in London on Monday evening when West Ham take on Aston Villa.

The Hammers have been pretty solid this season and manager David Moyes will be thrilled to how his players have reacted to some big fixtures being thrown their way. Even their last defeat which came at the hands of Liverpool had to be settled on a disputed penalty for the Reds. West Ham have a good thing going, with players harassing for the ball and attacking well and this is a good period for the club who come into this match in 9th place.

The Hammers have won their last two games, which will give them a boost for this encounter and have earned 8 points from their last 15. Fixtures have been tricky for the side having to face most of the ‘big six’ but a win here could see them climb up to 5th place depending on other results.

At home West Ham have only lost once, which was at the beginning of the season and have gone their last three games undefeated.

Aston Villa are like the Jekyll and Hyde team of the Premier League. One moment they can go to Arsenal and out play them in a 3-0 win and the next they lose at home to Brighton which they did last weekend.

Villa are still in a good position in seventh and could go 5th or even 4th with a win. But whilst they have shown flashes of brilliance they seem like a club who will be too inconsistent this season to really make a mark. Dean Smith’s side have lost 3 of their last four games.

But here’s the thing, away from home Villa have one of the best records in the league where they have a 100% win rate, played 3 won 3. In that time they have scored seven goals and are yet to concede, that is simply impressive and something that should be worrying David Moyes coming into this game.

Team News:

West Ham: The big news surrounding the West Ham camp will be if Michail Antonio will be back from injury. The striker has recovered and back in training and will face a late test. Andriy Yarmolenko could be back after recovering from Covid-19.

Aston Villa: Ross Barkley is a major doubt for this game with a hamstring injury and could miss the next two weeks as a result. Bjorn Engels has an ongoing thigh injury with no update on his condition.

West Ham vs Aston Villa Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

The last 8 meetings in a row have all ended under 2.5 goals.

West Ham vs Aston Villa Prediction:

West Ham have done really well and you take out the Liverpool defeat and Arsenal and they haven’t lost in two months. They have really surprised everyone, the question is how long can they keep it up for?

Aston Villa you simply do not know what you are going to get. Traditionally they don’t travel well to West Ham, but Villa are doing things very left field this season,so we can’t count on that. Each time you think they will fall away they come out with a result and they could surprise West Ham in this match.

It might be worth backing other markets as this match really could go either way, and we see goals being the order of the day.
