England Premier League

Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: London Stadium
Match Preview:
It’s been quite a week for David Moyes at West Ham whose job has been on the line again but he seems to have come through it. There were suggestions that had West Ham lost against Fulham last weekend he would have been sacked but the Hammers won 1-0 and earned a huge three points in the process. In the Europa Conference League in midweek their first leg quarter final away to Gent finished 1-1 and while the performance was poor you expect the club will take that heading home for the second leg. Now the Hammers will take on Arsenal in a London derby and they need to win as the threat of relegation is still there.
West Ham are in 14th place with 30 points but are just three points shy of the bottom three and need to push on. Whilst it is true that the club look likely to survive this season they have some difficult fixtures coming up but it’s only 1 loss in their last four games and at home while the Hammers were outclassed by Newcastle in losing 5-1 before that their form was very good and stable.
Arsenal will know by the time of kick off if Manchester City have reduced the gap at the top to 3 points, but whatever the result the Gunners will need to win this game. Coming into this weekend the gap is 6 points but City also have a game in hand and the pendulum looks to have swung in the champions favour as Mikel Arteta’s side try to stun everyone with a league title that was thought very unlikely at the beginning of the season. Arsenal have won 13 points from their last 15 but last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool was seen as a blow to their title hopes that is how relentless City have been this season as they try to chase the Gunners down.
On the road Arteta’s side have the best away record in the league with 35 points won from 45 and they are unbeaten in their last 4 games, they are also scoring on average 2 goals per game on the road.
Team News:
West Ham: Only Gianluca Scamacca is missing from the Hammers line up and he has been sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury with no fixed return date.
Arsenal: William Saliba is missing with a muscle injury, Takehiro Tomiyasu is out for the season due to a knee injury and Mohamed Elneny could well miss the rest of the season also with a knee injury.
West Ham vs Arsenal Head to Head:
Last season Arsenal won this fixture 2-1.
Earlier in the season in the revrese fixture Arsenal won 3-1.
In the last 31 meetings West Ham have only beaten Arsenal twice.
There is a 50% chance to see over 3.5 goals.
West Ham vs Arsenal Prediction:
West Ham can raise their game against Arsenal as they tend to do with a lot of the top six clubs but there is no denying that they have a very poor record over the Gunners and we think this will be set to continue at the weekend. West Ham had to play in Belgium in midweek while the better club Arsenal could rest and prepare for this game, they also have a terrific record over the Hammers. A defeat here would be a blow for Moyes side but they may be thinking ahead to their crucial 2nd leg game against Gent too, so it’s diffiult to look past the visitors especially with the pace and attacking options they have.
Gabriel Martinelli for Arsenal is in brilliant form and scoring goals and he has scored a few against the Hammers in the past few games so he should be picked to get on the score sheet again. Don’t fully discount West Ham because the players will dig deep but this could be a case of simply being outclassed.
