Match Preview:
West Ham’s season could be falling apart as the team seem to have ground to a halt points wise and they haven’t tasted victory since December 28, which is the last time they played Arsenal. The question then will be can David Moyes side kickstart that winning feeling by doing the double over their derby rivals? The Hammers come into this weekend in 7th place with 36 points after they put in one of their worst performances of the season when they lost 3-0 away to Manchester United and that game followed 3 draws in a row. Frustratingly for them they have lost touch with the Europa League place now and are 8 points behind that target and have seen Manchester United go past them. Brighton and Newcastle are within touching distance too and it would be easy to fall away from the top six.
At home the club is unbeaten for over two months and have lost just twice here and have won 5 from 11 games but the four draws at home have not helped. Their last match at home finished in a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth and they have drawn their last two at home. Arsenal are in 3rd place with 49 points and came into this weekend just 2 points shy of league leaders Liverpool. The Gunners were able to stay in the title race as they became only the second side to beat Liverpool this season with an excellent 3-1 win at home. Arsenal have won 3 games in a row and are scoring goals- they have netted 10 goals in those three wins. The club cannot lose their position this weekend as Aston Villa are three points behind but vastly have an inferior goal difference. On the road Mikel Arteta’s side have been overall stable with 6 wins from 11 games but recent form has been patchy with just one win in their past four games. The Gunners did win their last away game which was a 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest however they have also recently lost against Aston Villa and Fulham and drawn against Liverpool.
Team News:
West Ham: Michail Antonio is back in training and could be assessed but remains a doubt, Lucas Paqueta is also a doubt with a calf injury but a late decision may be made on him.
Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus missed the latest game with a knee injury but it isn’t thought to be serious and he is in contention to return. Oleksandr Zinchenko will be assessed for what is thought to be a minor calf injury. Jurrien Timber and Thomas Partey remain sidelined with no fixed return dates.

The teams last met here just three months ago in the EFL Cup and West Ham won 3-1.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture West Ham won 2-0.
West Ham have managed to remain undefeated against Arsenal for the past 3 games.

These clashes are always a lot of fun especially for neutrals and we should expect to see a good competitive game. Arsenal have normally been the dominant force in these games and so it is interesting to see how West Ham have had the better of them over the past year. West Ham remains a side who can punch above their weight and be a danger just when you least expect it, and they have a chance to derail the Gunners season. Arsenal boast experience and quality and while they have a solid away record it doesn’t look as good as it should be to try and challenge for a title and recent away form has not been good. This will be a huge clash and another big test for the Gunners. While Arsenal have the better squad you have to respect West Ham’s home record so far, but we do still see Arsenal taking all 3 points.
