Venue: Olympic Stadium
Match Preview:
Monday night’s game looks like being a very interesting one as West Ham take on Arsenal. Both sides are in need for a win and have both punched well below expectations this season.
Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini remains under huge pressure to keep his job and that seemed to be lifted after the club beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. But then in true West Ham fashion they looked very average losing 2-0 to Wolves the game after and if anything the club have suffered greatly from consistency issues.
West Ham have the chance to join Arsenal on 19 points with a win but form has been poor with 4 losses from their last 5 games. What is more pushing for the club is that they are also struggling to get wins at home and haven’t won at London Stadium since September 22nd when they beat Manchester United.
This is Arsenal’s worse start to a league title campaign since 1977 and the Gunners come into this game having no wins in 9 games. The clubs performances have been poor to toothless and this was highlighted in their last match against Brighton, which they lost at home 2-1. For the first time in perhaps a generation fans are seeing Arsenal not perform in the Arsenal way and every time the opposition goes on attack they look like scoring.
The Gunners are in 10th place and caretaker manager Freddie Ljungberg has not had a great start with the club drawing away to Norwich and now this. A win would only take Arsenal up one place and they are 10 points from a Champions League finish.
Arsenal have won 6 points away from home from a total of 21 and have won just one game. With 7 goals scored they have the 3rd worst record of scoring goals on the road.
Team News:
West Ham: Michail Antonio missed the last game through a muscle injury and is trying to recover for this one, he faces a late fitness test. Manuel Lanzini is not due back for at least another 3 weeks with a shoulder injury. Jack Wilshire has a good chance of being ready for this game to face his former club after a muscle injury. Robert Snodgrass is carrying a minor knock and will have a late assessment.
Arsenal: The Gunners have no new injury concerns coming into this game

West Ham vs Arsenal Prediction:
Both sides lack confidence, or is it desire? We see a lack of effort so often these days whenteams are performing badly, so what will be key here is who starts the strongest. What team will be riled up in the dressing room and ready to go? We think it could be Arsenal, with the reason being that the players simply have not had time to assess whether Ljungberg is the man long term for them, but even if he isn’t what is the harm in producing results until someone else comes in? With West Ham there is a concern that the players are simply fed up of Pellegrini who keeps to the same tactics, and reportedly doesn’t even study the opposition.
Arsenal do have better players than West Ham, and if they can settle down quick they could control the pace of the game and get a rare away win. However with both of these teams we would advise not betting on the outcome as they are both far too unreliable at the moment. Therefore we will stick to goals, and we expect the match to open up in the second half.
