England Premier League
Wednesday 19th May 2021
Kick off at 8:15pm BST
Venue: The Hawthorns
Match Preview:
West Bromwich Albion are relegated of course but that doesn’t mean they won’t try in this game. In fact we have seen it a few times now that when teams do go down they start to suddenly play better. Also West Brom may have their eyes on 18th place and finally over taking Fulham, victory in this game would see that happen.
Recent form for the Baggies has been poor with 2 points gained from their last 15 and back to back losses coming into this game. Their last defeat was headed for a draw against Liverpool until Alisson of all players grabbed the winner for the Reds. That goal would have rubbed salt into the wounds for Sam Allardyce. Onwards thinking though and West Brom will be meeting West Ham when the Hammers appear to have lost form so they may fancy their chances here.
West Ham have blown a top four spot now and that’s what happens when you win 1 of your last 5 games when you needed to win almost all of them. It’s unfortunate for the club that their worst form of the season has come at the back end of April and into May because they have fallen at the final hurdle and a top four place really was a reality. Now the club will be hoping to finish in a Europa League position and currently they are in seventh place which means the qualifying rounds and an early season start.
Last weekend West Ham drew 1-1 at Brighton although they snatched an equaliser with three minutes to go and probably were the happier of the two teams but it was still two huge points dropped. Away from home inconsistency has dogged the Hammers but they have won 8 games.
Team News:
West Bromwich Albion: No new injuries for the club coming into this game.
West Ham: Manuel Lanzini is set to miss this match due to his on going thigh injury. Arthur Masuaku has a knee injury but could be assessed.
West Brom vs West Ham Head to Head:
The last time the clubs met here in the league was back in 2017 and the game ended 0-0.
There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.
West Ham have won just once at West Brom in the last four meetings.
West Brom vs West Ham Prediction:
This is a really tough game for the Hammers, we know they have the better side but it won’t matter in this game. We have just witnessed how a goalkeeper had to save Liverpool a few days ago, so for West Ham they will have to work incredibly hard to get the win.
The problem for West Ham is that they are going for something, West Brom aren’t of course and can just play their game without any kind of pressure. The Hammers have simply been out of form and have maybe let that pressure get to them. Other clubs are crowding the Hammers for that last European spot, and the value for us looks to be with the home side.
