West Brom vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 8th November 2020
Kick off at 12noon GMT
Venue: The Hawthorns

Match Preview:

Slaven Bilic’s job could be under threat soon if he doesn’t turn around the clubs fortunes and one of the last teams you’d want to be meeting at this time is Tottenham who themselves have moved into 3rd place.

The Baggies are in 18th position but come here with a deadly combination of no wins this season and shipping too many goals - it has been 16 so far which is the most in the league. Last weekend was seen as a new low for the club as they lost 2-0 against Fulham who were bottom of the league before that game and also had no wins.

What is interesting is that West Brom have played some good football but have just looked very naive at the back and if they are going to pick up points it will be at home. This is evidenced in the fact that they have at least gone their last 2 home games without defeat. Two draws have maintained that run against Burnley and Chelsea.

Tottenham have had a few bumps - the loss at home against Everton, a controversial draw against Newcastle and letting West Ham back into a game they were winning 3-0 but they are starting to look stronger each weekend. They come into this game having won back to back matches against Burnley and Brighton.

Possibly what is significant is that their away form is among the best in the league with a 100% record, three wins out of three and they have scored 12 goals already and conceded just three.

Team News:

West Bromwich Albion: The Baggies have no new injuries coming into this match.

Tottenham: Serge Aurier has a slight knock but it isn’t being considered as anything major and he could be in for selection. Sergio Reguilon has recovered from the flu and is being tipped to be ready for this game.

West Brom vs Tottenham Head to Head:

The clubs have not met here since 2018 when West Brom won the game 1-0.

4 of the last six league meetings have ended with the same correct score of 1-1.

Tottenham have only won at West Bromwich Albion once in the last five attempts and the last time was back in 2015.

West Brom vs Tottenham Prediction:

West Bromwich Albion have been poor overall and may well struggle here. However like West Ham they raise their game in the early exchanges against the better sides and this worked well when they drew 3-3 against Chelsea, and actually went 3-1 up in that game.

West Brom can give Tottenham a good game and that is why Jose Mourinho must set up his team to attack from the first whistle and not make heavy weather of the game. Tottenham have done so recently against the likes of Burnley. With such attacking players and options fans will be expecting a big win but there is no guarantee of that, although they have scored 12 goals in just 3 games away from home, in short we do not see any other outcome than the away result.
