Match Preview:
West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United have something in common coming into what will be a crunch fixture and that is they are both searching for their first victory of the season.
It is 19th v 20th for this Saturday evening game and the tension will be revved up to 10. West Brom have 3 points after securing three draws but have lost 6 of their 9 games. Last weekend they were very unlucky to lose away to Manchester United going down to a Bruno Fernandes penalty and showed some fight in that game, which would have obviously pleased an under pressure Slaven Bilic.
However even if West Brom are playing some good football the reality is that they look like they will be involved in a long term relegation fight and come into this match having lost their last 3 games in a row. The clubs lack of goals is telling and they have only scored six so far this season.
Sheffield United are rock bottom with just 1 point earned from a possible 27, how quick the situation has changed from last season. The Blades have lost their last 4 matches in a row and last weekend were beaten by West Ham losing 1-0.
Chris Wilder’s side have lost 90% of their matches and are 4 points adrift of safety already, although a win here could change everything. However away from home there is no surprise to see that United has the worst away record in the Premier League where they have lost all four games, conceding 9 goals in that time.

West Bromwich Albion: Kieran Gibbs could return after recovering from Covid-19. It is exactly the same situation for Jake Livermore. Sam Field could make a return but has some slight fitness issues.
Sheffield United: Ethan Ampadu has a knock and will be assessed. Lys Mousset could return but will face a fitness test. Enda Stevens is being tipped to return after his knee injury on international duty.

From their last six meetings, Sheffield United have won 2, West Brom have won two and there has been two draws.

We have two clubs desperately after the points and it would be wrong to think that both would settle for a point here. What good would that do? The clubs will need to be drilled to win this game and go for it, and coming into this encounter they have the same form and have been equally poor.
West Brom have shown promise but have been genuinely unlucky in some matches and they should take something from the Manchester United narrow defeat. We do expect a tense and close game but will back the home side to come through but cover the draw for extra safety.
It is a match that could go either way though and both Bilic’s and Wilder’s jobs could be on the line soon. The fixture to passing fans may not excite but given the circumstances this could be a stand out game in the Premier League this weekend.
