England Premier League
Tuesday 29th December 2020
Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: The Hawthorns
Match Preview:
West Bromwich Albion achieved a fantastic result at the weekend as they ended Liverpool’s 100% home record in a 1-1 draw. The Baggies came from behind to do it and stun the champions who could have pulled away.
Everyone will be talking about the arrival and impact of Sam Allardyce who oversaw the draw. But let’s remember that West Brom also got a draw at Manchester City a few weeks ago with Slaven Bilic in charge. Still it was a very positive result and they now have 8 points and are five from pulling out of the bottom three.
What was impressive in the match against Liverpool is how the Baggies set up defensively which isn’t a surprise under Allardyce but they only let Liverpool have 2 shots on target the whole game. West Brom have only won 1 game at home and have lost 3 of their last four, their last match here ended in a 3-0 loss against rivals Aston Villa.
Leeds are in 12th place and 12 points in front of their hosts. It has been a rollercoaster ride for Marcelo Bielsa’s side but an exciting one no doubt. Though last weekend was more hard fought as they beat Burnley 1-0. Leeds have won 2 of their last three games but do remain unpredictable.
On the road they have lost their last two although this was against Manchester United and Chelsea where they conceded 9 goals in those games. Leeds have won 3 from seven and haven’t drawn any yet.
Team News:
West Bromwich Albion: Jake Livermore is suspended, Kyle Bartley has a calf injury which has been ongoing.
Leeds: Liam Cooper has a muscle injury and is ruled out, it’s the same problem for Diego Llorente.
West Brom vs Leeds Head to Head:
Last season in the Championship the clubs drew this fixture 1-1.
Leeds haven’t won at West Bromwich Albion since 2002 although the clubs have only played four times since then.
There is a 70% chance to see over 3.5 goals.
West Brom vs Leeds Prediction:
This is a classic game of defence vs attack. The Baggies will likely be set up to defend for long periods against a very attacking side in Leeds. It's hard to see Leeds losing, but it's not certain they will win either, with a draw potentially looking the more likely option.
The draw at half time seems like a decent option to take and perhaps suggesting that the game could open up more and produce goals in the second half is another. We will need a few weeks to see where the Baggies are going under their new manager but they are sure to have a spring in their step after the draw at Liverpool.
West Brom vs Leeds Betting Tips:
