England Premier League
Saturday 30th January 2021
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: The Hawthorns
Match Preview:
Considering where the clubs are in the league this could be a classic but also a tense affair. West Bromwich Albion in 19th were dealt a blow as bottom club Sheffield United pulled out a shock win over Manchester United and now only 3 points is the difference between going bottom of the league.
West Brom lost 5-0 at home to Manchester City in their last game and though the result wasn’t a surprise conceding that many goals could be the difference between staying up or not. The Baggies had drawn at City earlier in the season when Slaven Bilic was in charge just to add salt into the wounds for current manager Sam Allardyce.
It’s 1 win in their last 5 games for West Brom and they are seven points from safety, they still have the games to claw back the points but it is starting to look quite desperate now.
Fulham drew again as their game with Brighton finished 0-0 in midweek and the Cottagers have nearly drawn half of all of their matches this season. They are 5 points from safety and will need to put a performance here. In 17th are Brighton who host Tottenham and could lose that game or at least be expected too so this could be a great opportunity for Fulham to close the gap. The problem for the club is that they haven’t won a league game in over 2 months.
Team News:
West Bromwich Albion: The club have no injuries coming into this fixture.
Fulham: Tom Cairney has a knee injury, it isn’t thought to be serious but this game looks like coming too soon for him.
West Brom vs Fulham Head to Head:
Last season this fixture ended 0-0.
Earlier in the season Fulham beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 in the reverse fixture.
West Bromwich Albion haven’t been able to beat Fulham at home since 2010.
The last 5 meetings have all had under 2.5 goals.
West Brom vs Fulham Prediction:
You wouldn't be blamed for thinking this game will be very tight, of course the way this season has been going anything could happen. West Brom can’t afford to keep dropping points as they see that even Sheffield United are cutting into their lead. Relegation is looming for both sides but more so for the Baggies.
They started with attack against Manchester City, an odd choice but a refreshing one but we should we expect to see the same here from Sam Allardyce’s team.
Fulham have showed a lot of promise in recent weeks but have lacked that final killer instinct. They may be able to find it here and they need victory too, a draw could be the outcome but it is no good to either team, we feel there could be more goals than people expect.
