West Brom vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Thursday 4th March 2021
Kick off at 6pm GMT
Venue: The Hawthorns

Match Preview:

Can Sam Allardyce out do himself even, and keep West Bromwich Albion up? It looks increasingly likely that they will be relegated and whilst the team has shown glimmers of hope since he arrived back in December they simply haven’t picked up enough points. And yet... there is that feeling that the Baggies could be making another charge. Their latest form sees the club going 3 games without defeat, although two of those matches ended in draws.

At the weekend West Brom recorded their 3rd win of the season as they beat Brighton 1-0 and they have moved six points clear of Sheffield United at the bottom. The gap to 18th is still six points and they are 9 points from safety - they have a chance. But hearts will be in mouths when it comes to how the club play and against Brighton victory was only achieved because the opposition missed two penalties.

Everton fresh from beating city rivals Liverpool followed that up with a home victory over Southampton. An early Richarlison goal was enough to see off the Saints, and for Everton it felt like a huge 3 points. The reason for this is that the clubs home form has been quite poor this season. The good news about this game is of course it is away from home where Everton have been quite superb. Indeed Carlo Ancelotti’s team have the 4th best away record and have won 26 points from a possible 38. They have only lost 2 games on the road this season and none in 2021.

Team News:

West Bromwich Albion: Kieran Gibbs is a big doubt with a neck injury. Robert Snodgrass has recovered from his knee injury and is being pencilled in to return for this game, he will be assessed and remains at 50/50.

Everton: Yerry Mina is out with a calf injury and he could miss the next 2 weeks at least.

West Brom vs Everton Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played here was in 2017 when the game finished 0-0.

Earlier in the season Everton beat West Brom 5-2 although Slaven Bilic was in charge of the side.

West Brom haven’t beaten Everton when at home since 2012.

West Brom vs Everton Prediction:

If Everton can start well then they have every chance to win this game because West Brom could fade away, for the home side it is all about holding out for 0-0 for a long period or scoring very early. Everton have not conceded in their last two games, which is a bonus for the defence and in goal Jordan Pickford has put in some very good displays since returning from his rib injury.

West Brom are fighting for survival but Everton are also fighting for a possible top 4 place. This should be much closer than when the teams met at Goodison Park and Everton scored five goals, but the away side will be the favourites for a valid reason.

The last time the clubs played Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored a hat-trick and you get the feeling that the forward is in need of a goal or two and we can see him scoring in midweek.

West Brom vs Everton Betting Tips:

Everton to beat West Bromwich Albion at 1.91

Anytime goalscorer: Dominic Calvert-Lewin at 2.20

Correct Score: Everton to win 2-1 or 2-0 at 9.50 and 10.00
