Match Preview:
Watford are going down if they can’t miraculously turn their season around. They look doomed but have some light at the end of the tunnel in the form of new manger Nigel Pearson who will be looking to change up the team and implement new ideas.
The Hornets did not play like a team bottom of the league when they went to Liverpool and lost 2-0. They had plenty of chances at 0-0 and 1-0 and could have walked away on another day with a draw at least. It is this type of determination and passion that Pearson will be calling on because his side come into this game 6 points from safety.
Pearson has to address the fact that Watford have lost 10 games from 17 so far and won just once this season. They have earned just 1 point from their last 15 available and at home they have no wins with 4 draws and 4 losses. The clubs fans have seen just 4 goals scored this season and their last match here ended in a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.
Manchester United will be the clear favourites to win this game and it is funny to think that manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was under so much pressure just a month ago. United have excelled since then and gone up a level and have no defeats in their last 5 games. They have beaten Manchester City and Tottenham in recent weeks but even though form is good they tend to draw too many, 3 from their last five matches.
The objective for the club is to finish in the top 4 and they have closed the gap to 4 points from Chelsea. The problem is that Tottenham and the old foe Jose Mourinho have become the new direct rival and they sit in between the clubs. United drew their last game at home to Everton with that finishing 1-1.
On the road United have been suspect with just 2 wins but recent form has seen the club go two games in a row without defeat after drawing against Sheffield United and beating Manchester City.

Watford: Jose Holebas is still out with an ankle injury. Adam Masina has a thigh injury but is being tipped to be fit. Roberto Pereyra should return from his groin injury. Sebastian Prodl is still out with his knee
Manchester United: Paul Pogba and Marcos Rojo are close to returns but are both set to miss this game as it comes too early for them

Manchester United are almost at that point where we can start to trust them again. The problem is that they can draw games and don’t always have the killer instinct. The other problem and this has dogged the club since 2013 is that their away form is average. United have the team to easily win this game and that is what is so frustrating about them. Watford will try and take something from the Liverpool game even if it ended in defeat. Pearson needs to drum it into his players that if they are to stay up then they need to start winning games at home, at the weekend we will find out much more about their intentions.
