England Premier League
Saturday 24th November 2018
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Vicarage Road
Match Preview:
Watford will be attempting to do what no other team in the Premier League has done yet and beat Liverpool when the Reds visit Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.
It’s fair to say that The Hornets have had a successful start to their Premier League campaign being in 7th place with 20 points, and not many could have predicted that they would be above Man Utd in November.
However Watford have also dropped points lately, firstly losing 1-0 away to Newcastle and then drawing 1-1 against Southampton, two teams which Watford would have been expected to beat. At home they have won 4 and lost 2, and their last game here ended in a 3-0 win over Huddersfield.
Liverpool continue the chase in 2nd place to Manchester City and are 2 points behind Pep Guardiola’s team. In their last game they overcame Fulham, making heavy weather of it in the end in a 2-0 victory.
Liverpool have an excellent away record, although 2 of their last 3 games have ended in draws, but then again those matches were against Chelsea and Arsenal. The Reds have the 2nd best away record in the league where they have won 14 points from a possible 18.
Team News:
Watford: The Hornets have a close enough fully fit squad. Tom Cleverly will be assessed after a lack of match fitness. Daryl Janmaat is out until at least December with the same problem.
Liverpool: Jordan Henderson has a hamstring problem but is set to be assessed for this game. Alex Oxlade- Chamberlain is the only other Liverpool injury and he looks out for the season
Watford vs Liverpool Head to Head:
Watford have not beaten Liverpool since 2015.
Last season this fixture ended 3-3.
Liverpool have scored 15 goals against Watford in the last 4 meetings.
Watford vs Liverpool Prediction:
Make no mistake this is not an easy game for Liverpool, although they do have the quality to win this game. We must ask this though. Are odds of 1.50 good value when Liverpool have what is in effect a knock out game of Champions League football against PSG in Paris a few days after this game?
Liverpool do have the better team and it wouldn’t be a surprise if they win the game. But Watford have had a decent start to the season and have played some good football at home, perhaps backing them to win on the handicap when they face a Liverpool side who won’t be fully focused on this game is the correct thing to do.
Watford vs Liverpool Betting Tips:
Watford to beat Liverpool with a +2 goal start at 1.53
Both teams to score at 1.72
