England Premier League
Saturday 9th April 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vicarage Road
Match Preview:
Even though Leeds have put together some good results they are not out of the woods just yet and this game could still be called a bottom of the table clash.
Watford are in 19th place and are 4 points from safety if we count the goal difference and that could be a deciding factor. Even worse news for the Hornets is that they have played a game more than their two direct rivals just above them in Burnley and Everton. It’s been just four wins for Watford this season and after beating Southampton impressively away from home they then lost away to Liverpool, although that was expected. The truth is that the club put in a very good and determined performance and only lost 2-0 in the end. Put in the same type of performance here and Roy Hodgson’s side will get the three points so hugely needed.
Leeds are 8 points to the good of Watford and six points clear of the bottom three- but here’s the catch, they have played two games more than Burnley and Everton and that means they are still considered to be in trouble. Form for Jesse Marsch’s side has been good though and they have gone their last 3 games without defeat which at this stage of the season is worth more than gold. Two of those games have been wins and last weekend they drew 1-1 against Southampton.
On the road Leeds have been poor with 13 points won from a possible 45 and they have lost 3 of their last four trips, although their last game ended in a win over Wolves as they came back from 2-0 down and that was Leeds only third away victory so far. We talk about relegation problems for Leeds but if they win this game and if Newcastle have dropped points on Friday evening then Leeds would go past them and into 15th place, but even if Newcastle have won a win here would obviously be a huge step to staying in the Premier League.
Team News:
Watford: The club has no new injuries ahead of the game.
Leeds: Lewis Bate has a knock and is only 50/50 to recover for this game. An update on Patrick Bamford suggests that the player could return a week before the end of the season with his foot injury. Junior Firpo is still about two weeks away with a knee injury. Joe Gelhardt is being tipped to return for this game after having a dead leg. Jamie Shackleton remains out for another two weeks with a calf injury and Tyler Roberts is out for the season with his hamstring injury.

Watford vs Leeds Prediction:
Watford look back up for this fight and the fact that Burnley beat Everton to reel the Toffees in again will surely give the Hornets some hope. Of course the team has the advantage of knowing Everton’s result earlier in the day and if they have lost or drawn Watford will understand that they are back in with a chance of surviving this season taking each game as it comes.
The Hornets have been poor at times but in their last two games we have seen the best of them and when you can frustrate Liverpool away from home as they did at times last week then that should be giving you confidence to be aggressive and ready when you play Leeds at home. Watford do not have any major significant injuries either and Leeds have some that are out or struggling.
We expect a closely fought game, that could well end up in a draw but we will take the home side to get a very narrow victory but cover the draw on the refund, and keep the season alive and interesting for them while also not letting Leeds be safe just yet. Check to see if Ismaila Sarr gets the nod to start, he was firing in goals just before he got injured for the home side and the 3.25 being quoted for him to score at home looks like outstanding value to us.
Watford vs Leeds Betting Tips:
