England Premier League
Tuesday 2nd April 2019
Kick off at 7.45pm BST
Venue: Vicarage Road
Match Preview:
As expected Watford lost at the weekend against Manchester United but did score a very late consolation goal to go away as slightly respectable 2-1 losers. Because Wolves also lost, not much changed for The Hornets in terms of trying to finish in 7th although both Everton and Leicester have also become contenders for the best of the rest position.
At home and against a virtually relegated Fulham team, Watford will be super confident they will be able to get all three points. The question will be does Javi Gracia the Watford manager stick to a tried and tested 4-2-2-2, which looks good against the bottom teams but has little impact against the better teams. Well the answer on paper looks easy enough as they are facing Fulham but it still feels like a formation that leaves the teams midfield a little open in the centre of the park.
Despite Fulham’s poor form Scott Parker is still taking the talk and wants to be The Cottagers manager in the Championship. Fulham aren’t down yet but they are 16 points from safety with just 18 points remaining and it is a case now that even if they won all of their games they would still go down, as no other team above them would have such a meltdown.
Last weekend they were absolutely outclassed by Manchester City, City had 5 corners in the opening 8 minutes of play, but at the end of the day Fulham only lost 2-0 when everybody was expecting a cricket score, so there has to be something said about the resiliance of the team especially in the second half as the game went further and legs got increasingly tired.
The Cottagers have just 1 win this year and have the worst away record in the league where they are yet to claim a single victory.
