England Premier League
Saturday 7th December 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Vicarage Road
Match Preview:
Some will claim it’s too early in the season to name a team who will be relegated this season, after all we are not even at the halfway stage yet. But surely Watford look like that team.
The club are bottom of the league with 8 points and are 7 points from safety, and they have no manager after sacking Quique Sanchez Flores, their 2nd manager to be sacked this season. How far the Hornets have fallen since last May when they reached the FA Cup final.
Watford lost their 3rd game in a row in midweek when they predictably were beaten at Leicester and there seems no hope for the club, without a manager they are lost at sea and one wonders where the fire and motivation will come from in regards to the players.
Even if they are at home the Hornets have not won at Vicarage Road all season and in fact have the worst home record in the Premier League. They have only scored 4 home goals all season and have won just 3 points from their last 15 on offer.
Crystal Palace have had ups and down this season but they come into this game in good form. Two consecutive wins against Burnley and Bournemouth has seen them move up to 7th place with 21 points. Also encouragingly the club have only lost 1 away match from their last four, that was against Chelsea but have recently gone to Arsenal and forced a 2-2 draw.
Team News:
Watford: There has been no update on Craig Dawson’s return from a head injury, so he is likely to miss this game. Jose Holebas will face a late assessment after his ankle injury. Christian Kabasele has returned to training and will be 50/50 to make this game after his hamstring injury
Crystal Palace: Gary Cahill appears to have recovered from a knee injury and will face a late test to make this game. Scott Dann is being tipped to return for this match after his ankle injury. Mamadou Sakho is suspended for 3 games. Joel Ward could miss the rest of the year with a bad knock
Watford vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:
Last season Watford won this game 2-1.
Crystal Palace have not won here since 2015.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score
Watford vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
We have to back Crystal Palace to get at least a point from this game and with all due respect to Watford if Palace don’t win they will be kicking themselves. Watford may get better, but they need a long term manager and the ship needs to be stabilised, right now it is heading into the Bermuda triangle and Watford are there for the taking. Palace look solid and some confidence has returned to the team and we think they can get at least a draw here and will follow those markets. The league is very crowded and if Roy Hodgson can steer this side into a European place then he deserves all of the plaudits. No matter this could be a good little period for the club so we have to follow them.
