Watford vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 11th August 2018
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vicarage Road

Match Preview:

Watford’s big purchase in the summer was ex Barcelona player Gerard Deulofeu who had played some time at Everton previously and for a fee of £11.5m could be good business given that he has Premier League experience under his belt.

Their biggest loss creatively was having to sell Brazilian Richarlison to Everton but they did get £40m for the play maker. The club were undefeated in pre season, but in truth never fully tested themselves and came away with a few draws, but a 1-1 result against Sampdoria was respectable.

Brighton have been one of the busiest teams transfer wise in the league where they have released 20 players from the squad and brought in 13. One wonders if manager Chris Hughton has had the chance to have a proper summer break.

There are no big names coming to the club, but Hughton has focused on goalkeepers and defence in the players that he has brought in, including signing 3 new shot stoppers.

Brighton remained undefeated in pre season but like Fulham there were few tests and too many draws, though in their last game they got a very good 2-1 win over French side Nantes.

Watford vs Brighton Team News:

Watford: Jose Holebas has a slight knock but should be ready to start. New signing Gerard Deulofeu s training hard to be fit for the beginning of the season.

Brighton: Glenn Murray is the only major doubt after a minor injury against Nantes.

Watford vs Brighton Head to Head:

The last two games played at Watford have ended in a draw.

Brighton have just 1 win in this fixture in the past 7 meetings.

Home or away the last 6 meetings have all ended in under 2.5 goals.

Watford vs Brighton Prediction:

Lack of goals could well be the order of the day here as both teams will be looking to secure some points. So our main focus will be the draw at half time and we will also back under 2.5 goals. This could be a dull fixture as both sets of players will be tense in the opening exchanges and play not to lose.

Watford vs Brighton Betting Tips:

Half time: A draw at 2.00

Under 2.5 goals at 1.57
